A quick shot taken on my phone when I was walking round a local garden centre. I think it's a Dahlia variety, but I'm not sure.

It didn't look like much on the phone, but once I got it up on my laptop, I found I quite liked it. Hope you do too!

Seeing as how all the flowers in our back garden are dead, my wife kindly let me take this from one of her pots in the front garden to photograph indoors.

Natural light from the window and a textured card as a background.

The seed heads (from a neighbours garden) are Poppy and Nigella. Taken indoors. The background is a piece of brown card, to which I added a texture and a vignette for a grungy look, to match the seed heads. Natural light helped by a small white LED panel. The vase, wood and stones are from my props box ;-)

I heard on the TV the other day that these extended heatwave conditions are causing some trees to enter an "early autumn" phase as it was so dry.

Checking in the garden I saw evidence of this on the lawn under my sycamore tree.........lots of seed heads and leaves losing their colour and falling. I brought some indoors to photograph them.

The same is true of some of the other trees nearby. On the plus side, the seed pods and leaves are very photogenic.

There is a shot of one of the leaves in the PiP.

Also known as a money flower.

A neighbour was digging up his Honesty plant and was kind enough to let me grab some seed heads to photograph indoors. Captured in natural light (using a reflector). The background is a sheet of art paper, which I chose to complement the colours in the seed heads.

Better viewed large I think.

Also known as Queen Anne's Lace (Daucus carota).

Some of my commenting yesterday was quite rushed as I had to visit our local hospital with my wife. It turned out to be an age-related eye condition, which is not serious, but we were there for hours waiting around and I we got home late in the day. My apologies if I missed anyone!
