I've seen the early flowers in spring in Kent, but didn't realise this was the plant. There are loads on the fresh fall from a few years back to this last year.

Strange fungus on the flower heads of this plant, never seen anything like it. The Carex was growing in the dark-ish and wet area of the undergrowth.

I've never seen this pondweed before, I thought this was fallen leaves in the water at first. Shame I couldn't get a closer shot of the flowers which you can see poking up on these.

We were treated by this fellow landing near a small clearing (in Covehurst Woods) just above our heads. Only the second records of them at HCP we know of. The first was earlier in the year at another location.
This guy does look as if he's swallowed something odd?

We had great views, from a part of the park that is technically off limits, but as there is a unofficial naturists beach near by the paths are actually safer and better maintained then most!
This family was nesting just above this, there apears to be at least two young, maybe three. In this photo one of the young is just out of sight in the brush above, one juvenille flying in, and one adult perched.

They also gave us a good show later but sadly couldn't get photos, even though the adult was in a dive straight for us, or more straight for the Moorehen chicks on the upper pond!

Covehurst Wood is a part of the cliff of the Hastings Country Park NR, that fell long long ago. It is now a dense, wet, acidic, jungle of mostly willow and beech trees.
This little fern was growing in one of the dark places on rocks.

Yes its a real thing, and a real wildflower! Who knew, I was sure this was somthing that had escaped from where there used to be houses up top the cliffs, but this is actually a sea cliff specialist.

Really pretty little wasp, reminded me of the Ruby Tailed Wasps but about half the size. It seems to have metallic-ness on its bum too.
