A picture showing some of my cameras with flashcubes and Magicubes attached. Flashcubes need a camera with a battery to function, but Magicubes will work without batteries - they're Magic!

I have placed a note on which cameras use flashcubes and which ones use Magicubes, so you can tell the difference. Here lately, I've been using Magicubes much more than flashcubes. I need to stock up on them, my supply is getting low.

I got this camera fairly cheap and it came with some "Arbor" brand disc film, which I had never heard of. I mainly bought it for the Arbor film.

This is one of the latest cameras I found for my collection. I got it for only a little over $7 because it didn't work. I took it apart and found out it was suffering from the "bad capacitor" issue. I soldered in a new one and now it works like a charm!

This is a Minolta version of the popular "Instamatic" 126 type of camera from years past. Of course, since it's a Minolta, it's better than any Instamatic Kodak or any other company ever made.

It's got real glass lenses, automatic exposure and you can even adjust the focus. Can your Kodak Instamatic X-15 do that? Mine sure can't.

These Jazz 207 "Jelly" cameras are fun - the front of them is clear! I had been wanting one for a while to add to my Jazz 206/207 camera collection and finally picked one up last September 2023.

They take pretty quirky pictures - but in a good way.

I got a new camera, new to me anyway, on Monday. It's a Hit camera, made in Japan, and it's only about two inches wide. But it does work and I've already used it.

It was made around 1950 and was the original brand. Afterwards, many, many companies made knock-off versions.

This is a tiny little 110 camera where, when you load the 110 film cartridge, it sticks out the side and makes the camera wider. The camera is actually too small to hold the 110 cartridge inside it.

This Minolta XG1 belonged to the neighbor of the drummer in my band, and he also had another Minolta XG-1, only it was the third version, this being the first version. He wanted me to fix both cameras and I did. He mainly wanted the other one, so he gave me this one for fixing his.

For some reason, I now have four of these XG1s. The first one I got was intentional, but the rest I just happened to get because they came in some lots of cameras where I mainly wanted a certain other one in the lot. And then this one was given to me.

I've had this camera for about a month. When I bought it off eBay, the seller said it didn't work. I was hoping it was just the notorious "bad capacitor" issue, but it wasn't. It really is broken. But, I mainly bought it for the lens. When I received the camera in the mail - however - the lens was full of fungus or haze, which the seller didn't happen to mention. The seller didn't want to make it good, so I guess I'm stuck with a parts camera. Fortunately, I have two others just like this, if I ever need a part.

Kalimar KX 5000 No. 2

I got home today and there was a package waiting by my door. It was a Kalimar KX 5000 camera I bought from KEH Camera and it's like new! Actually, I think it is new. It's the complete kit except for the lens. I think it was only opened, the lens was removed and it was put back in the plastic bag. The kit featured the original box, a leather case, new batteries, a body cap and a neck strap, plus the camera body. It is somewhat of a clone of the Minolta X-300s/X-370n. I think the styling looks better than the Minoltas.

Originally, it came with the lens pictured, but this is the lens from my other KX 5000, just for the beauty shot.

And when I unboxed it, I got to studying it and learned something about the camera I hadn't known. I also have a Kalimar KX 7000 and wondered what the difference was between the KX 5000 and the KX 7000. Now I know. The KX 5000 is all manual, while the KX 7000 has an automatic aperture-preferred setting in addition to full manual. I had never used the automatic setting on my original KX 5000, of course if I had tried to, I would have found it that it didn't have one. 99.9% of the time, I use my cameras on manual. Especially all my Minolta SLRs and the Chinese-made clones.

This is a great little camera - it takes really sharp pictures. The meter doesn't seem to work, but that's all right because it has two manual settings that are about all I need.

Another Chinese-made clone of the Minolta X-300.

I have my doubts as to whether or not this is an official clone. The name plate where "Argus" is located has rounded-off corners to the left and the right of the name. Almost as if somebody had sanded off the original name and painted on Argus instead. Another doubt comes because I have never seen another camera like this anywhere on the internet.

Update:
A contact of mine found one of these for sale, and it was the whole camera kit - camera, box, manual, etc. I guess that proves it's a legitimate clone. Thanks, Xata!

This Olympus OM G belonged to my Uncle. He gave it to me last year when he said he was just getting too old to take pictures anymore. I have to say, that's one of the worst ways to add a camera to my collection. You hate to see people getting old, especially a relative.
