When a child dies, all one can do is support the family.. send them good vibes, prayers to heal the hole now in their hearts, energies to sustain them..
My dear chosen sister, Nu`riah (who painted the Henna art on my frame drum), lost her young son to bacterial meningitis Monday morning.
Please hold the family in your hearts and souls; pray for them to gain understanding of this tragedy.
Just hold them close.
We all thank you.. the wagons have been circled to protect and comfort them.

Night Blooming Cereus Cactus flower -

size of a saucer -

opens at 10pm EDT -
Florida US -
oh, how I hated to leave it when we moved -

framed in PicMonkey -
'trademark signature' added -

no way to describe the aroma -
the Cactus is very prickly -
hold a flashlight in one had -
camera in the other -
just hope you don't get stuck too badly -
taken with Canon PowerShot A630 -

it has been a dry spell after 2 winters of freezing temps ..
so, it this is the year ..
you are being warned ..
these fragrant flowers bloom at 10pm EDT ..
I will be out in the yard with camera ..
trying to dodge the cactus spines ..
when open to the fullest, they are about the size of a saucer ..
taken in 2009 ..

a flower which blooms (around 10pm) ..
continuing into the next morn, when the process reverses ..
a night of beauty & fragrance ..
that they are produced on a rather unusual cactus ..
makes them all the more amazing ...

.. from freezes - 2 yrs in a row
.. these just aren't designed to handle that cold
.. in Florida USA

.. the cactus is growing long
.. with many sharp barbs
.. which is the site that produces these flowers
.. looks quite healthy
.. so, July - August

.. will be looking to head outside
.. 10pm EDT for photo shoots

.. attached to a plain cactus that sends out 3-4 foot long pieces. A small green/red pinecone shape bud appears, changing into a green bullet shape before opening into these saucer size, fragrant, delicate flowers.
The flower starts opening at night and continues into the next day. If the weather is good, the flower will last 2-3 days.
