It's so filthy (like all cars during the winter months), but I can't see through the windows and outside mirrors to safely do shoulder checks, which is not a good thing. Not even sure if it's Thursday or Friday today : ) Still have to sit down and write something to be read at my brother's funeral, before it's too late. Yesterday, a week since I first got the phone call about his death, it all seemed to really hit me hard, maybe because I was listening to and finalizing the music to be played, plus typing some difficult e-mails, and reading so many kind, supportive comments here on Flickr. Thank you all so much for your continuing support and thoughts! Please forgive me for not getting back to each of you individually to thank you. Each fall, he brings indoors all his potted cacti and each spring, he plants the endless pots once again in his garden. A huge amount of work and effort, but this is something about which he is passionate. And we all need something like that in our lives! <br /> <br /> Fine snow is gently falling as I type this. I keep meaning to check the little tag that came with it - but I think it's called Orange Star.<br /> <br /> Spent about three hours this afternoon, driving the backroads south east and south west of the city, to try out a small GPS unit that I bought yesterday - bought in desperation, hoping to give myself a little more confidence despite my driving phobia that I have been battling for more than 30 years. Plus I have next to no sense of direction. The GPS was pretty good - I only got lost briefly once. The thing that complicates things is that some of the backroads have two numbers (street number as well as Range Road number, I think). At least the unit shows me just where I am at any given time, which is a huge concern of mine, LOL! Had to laugh - I had set the voice on British English (I grew up in England), but soon changed it to American English, after the woman with the first accent completely mispronounced one of the city's main roads! And wildlife? WHAT wildlife??? And it was SO windy, I could barely hold my camera.<br /> <br /> Didn't get round to backing up more of my photos on an external drive last night (partly 'cos I had Migraine, which thankfully I rarely get any more), but, if I'm wise, I will try and get some done this evening, as my computer is still making a very strange (and worrying) clicking sound, which seems to be getting worse. I keep meaning to check the little tag that came with it - but I think it's called Orange Star.<br /> <br /> Spent about three hours this afternoon, driving the backroads south east and south west of the city, to try out a small GPS unit that I bought yesterday - bought in desperation, hoping to give myself a little more confidence despite my driving phobia that I have been battling for more than 30 years. Plus I have next to no sense of direction. The GPS was pretty good - I only got lost briefly once. The thing that complicates things is that some of the backroads have two numbers (street number as well as Range Road number, I think). At least the unit shows me just where I am at any given time, which is a huge concern of mine, LOL! Had to laugh - I had set the voice on British English (I grew up in England), but soon changed it to American English, after the woman with the first accent completely mispronounced one of the city's main roads! And wildlife? WHAT wildlife??? And it was SO windy, I could barely hold my camera.<br /> <br /> Didn't get round to backing up more of my photos on an external drive last night (partly 'cos I had Migraine, which thankfully I rarely get any more), but, if I'm wise, I will try and get some done this evening, as my computer is still making a very strange (and worrying) clicking sound, which seems to be getting worse. As so often happens, this Tulip was already starting to wilt by this morning. My camera lens touched a petal when I was trying to take a macro and off it came. Then a second one fell. Managed to get a few shots with the remaining petals intact.
