Einer der kleineren jüdischen Friedhöfe in meiner Heimatstadt Hamburg. Das Tor ist fest verschlossen, doch du kannst durch die Eisenstäbe des Zaunes spähen.
Am 9. November 1938 verbrannten sie die Synagogen, ein paar Jahre später verbrannten sie die Menschen. Dies ist weder vergeben noch vergessen.

One of the smaller Jewish Cemeteries in my hometown, Hamburg. The gate is firmly locked, but you may peer through the iron fence.
November 9, 1938, was the day they burned the synagogues, a few years later they burned the people. This is neither forgiven nor forgotten.

After three weeks of holidays in the rain I returned to my home turf - the north of Germany - and was rewarded with a truly hot summer's day which I spent in and around Worpswede. This shot was taken in the evening sun. Thanks to my four-legged models for their leisurely moooooooooooovement.

In English the name "Teufelsmoor" means "Devil's Bog". Worpswede used to be the home of an artists' colony known as "Worpsweder Maler" (Worpswede painters), the most relevant of which (in my opinion) were Paula Modersohn-Becker, her husband Otto Modersohn, Hans am Ende, Fritz Overbeck and Heinrich Vogeler.

Ich musste einfach anhalten und dies Foto aufnehmen, obwohl ich für meinen Werkstatttermin zum Winterreifen-Aufziehen bereits verspätet war. Der Kontrast zwischen den goldbraunen Blättern und den nassen schwarzen Baumstämmen zog mich an, dazu noch der zartgraue Nebelschleier im Hintergrund.
I just had to stop the car and take this shot, although I was already late for my appointment at the garage to put on winter wheels. I was quite taken by the contrast of the golden-brown leaves against the blackness of the wet tree trunks, and the soft grey mist in the distance.
