A bit of brutalist architecture at Huddersfield bus station. It was opened on Sunday 1 December 1974 and is the busiest bus station in West Yorkshire. It is currently undergoing major renovation works.

Through the entrance lock to the King George V Dock at Hull. At the dockside is the 2,650 gross tonnage general cargo vessel GERD along with the tug SERVICEMAN which was at the time owned by SMS Towing Ltd. Also partly visible to the right is the SANTANA a general cargo vessel of 7345 gross tons. In the background is the 50-meter-tall biomass silo designed to store 1,800 tonnes of wood pellets imported from North America. Constructed using slipform concrete techniques, this automated facility can load up to 30 rail wagons with 1,500 tonnes of biomass in just 45 minutes for delivery to the Drax Power Station.

This block of three shops with offices above sits at the corner of Kind Edward Street and Waltham Street in the centre of Hull. The corner facade has on the first floor a semicircular bay window with Ionic half-columns and an ornate copper half-dome. Above again, a hexagonal copper dome with curly volutes and a circular dormer window on each side. Flat topped round lantern with volutes, and was once crowned with a flagpole. It was built c1905 and is listed Grade II.

Brodsworth Colliery commenced when two shafts were sunk between October 1905 and 1907 in a joint venture by the Hickleton Main Colliery Company and the Staveley Coal and Iron Company. The Barnsley seam which was reached at a depth of 595 yards and was up to 9 feet thick and after a third shaft was sunk in 1923, Brodsworth, was the largest colliery in Yorkshire and had the highest output of a three-shaft colliery in Britain. The colliery was consistently amongst those that employed the most miners in Britain, employing around 2,800 workers throughout the 1980s. It closed in 1990 and the site has since been cleared.

This steep setted road links Old Lane with the Woodside area of Halifax. Used mainly for car parking these days the scene is dominated by the chimney of Crossley's former carpet mills at Dean Clough.

Zion Chapel

The Zion Methodist New Connexion Chapel in Batley replaced a smaller chapel on the site. The foundation stone was laid in 1868 and formal opening took place in 1870. It was designed by Walter Hanstock and Michael Sheard.

So many textile owners attended this church that it became known locally at "The Shoddy Temple".

The Picturedrome in Holmfirth built 1912-13 by the firm of Messrs. Hawthorne & King of Coxton House, Mirfield, and was opened on Easter Monday, March 1st 1913 as the Holme Valley Theatre. It was designed as both theatre and cinema, seating 1040 people; 240 in the balcony and 800 downstairs. The name was initially announced as the Hippodrome, but it was referred to as both the Holme Valley Theatre and the Holmfirth Electric Picturedrome in early newspaper reports. Closure as a cinema came in September 1967 and it reopened as a bingo hall from December 1967 until 1993. Today the Picturedrome is a prominent, refurbished music venue with a capacity of approximately 650, featuring a stage and dance floor.

Not every photo charter takes place in ideal conditions and the images have to show the 'atmospheric' side of the action. This was certainly true when in damp conditions 4F 43924 headed a short mixed train uphill out of Keighley.
