In my garden, Etowah County, Alabama It was about five feet long. Didn't move until I prodded it with a twig. Then it vibrated its tail, coiled up and struck at me. When I backed off, it turned and slithered rapidly away. (IMG_4972)

These toads were hanging around in the rain just outside my garage door. They tried to hop away when I opened the door, but I manged to corral them. I kept trying to keep them together long enough for a shot, but they weren't of a mind to cooperate. One or the other would hop off just as I was ready to shoot. Persistence finally paid off and I managed to get one of them together. Etowah County, Alabama (IMG_4768)

I rescued this turtle from the middle of the road quite a distance from the bridge over the creek. After taking a few photos, I put it back in the creek. Otis, who has always been leery of turtles, is gingerly checking it out. This was the closest he would venture to it. Etowah County, Alabama
