Right on the border with Peacehaven, the houses in the valley are in a modern development on the western edge of Newhaven.
2022 The space between the camera and the houses is now being filled with more houses!

This is the old village of Telscombe. Among the trees is an ancient church & rectory. I didn't have time on this visit, which was itself well overdue, to go down into the village and photograph close-up. Next time I shall probably try to walk down through the village and on to Southease.
Telscombe town is a more recent development along the A259 coast road to the east of Brighton. It is behind the camera and over the hill from this location.

Where the sea winds have buffeted these garden walls, the softer yellow bricks have been eroded away, leaving the mortar courses exposed.

I suspect that this couple had joined the undercliff pathway at a point where the access was easier. Clearly they hadn't bargained on a climb up 30+metre cliffs. At this point they were less than halfway up. You can see the whole cliff in www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/35062977

I seem to have just caught the end of this plant's flowering season. There were masses of these plants on the cliffs at Peacehaven Heights, but most of the flowers were just dried seed heads.

Among the many fairly standard seaside bungalows, overlooking the sea at Peacehaven, this one, with its octagonal roof stands out. It may well have started out with a conventional pitched roof and had a loft conversion done, in a rather stylish way.
