In the PiP one can see the irrigation of potato fields in the background. Severn Trent, our water authority, has not brought a hosepipe ban in yet. There are deep aquifers underground in Shropshire, but they have advised their customers to be very sparing with hosepipes.

We are not using our hosepipe to water borders as I want to see what plants survive the drought, so that I can give a talk to our local garden club.

I think farmers are exempt because they are providing food for the nation.

Come, ye thankful people, come,
Raise the song of harvest home!
All is safely gathered in
Ere the winter storms begin.

This hymn was written by Henry Alford (1844)

How times have changed. This harvest was safely gathered in at the beginning of July, and hopefully the winter storms are not upon for a few months.

Interestingly, the red spots of burnet moths indicate to predators that they are poisonous: they release hydrogen cyanide when attacked.

Fountains Abbey is a ruined Cistercian monastery near Ripon in North Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1132, the monastery was dissolved in 1539 as part of the English Reformation. Even in its current state, Fountains is described by Historic England as "the best preserved of English abbeys and the finest picturesque ruin.
The abbey is a Grade I listed building owned by the National Trust and is part of the designated Studley Royal Park including the Ruins of Fountains Abbey UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The dog backed off, but eventually retrieved the ball when the swan family moved away.
The large black fleshy lump at the base of the bill is much larger and more pronounced on the cob, this can be called the "berry".
National Youth Anti-Violence Educational Programme.

The Knife Angel was intended to educate children, young people and adults about the harmful effects that violent behaviour has on communities all across our nation. it has been made from hundreds of thousands of knives being removed off our city streets.

The journey of the Knife Angel has travelled across the country, bringing communities together to reflect, remember, and take a stand against violence.

The sculpture was created By the British Ironworks near Oswestry in Shropshire.
In December 2018, the Knife Angel began its official Anti-Violence Tour across the UK, beginning its journey outside of Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.

So far this year it has been to:
PiP 2 is more details of the body of the bee.
PiP 3 is The Knife Angel. It was completed in 2018, and stands at 27 ft (8.2 m) tall. At present I think it is in Ely Cambridgeshire.

In collaboration with the Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the British Ironworks has created an anti-violence monument to highlight the city’s stance against all forms of violence. In July 2020, a 7.5 tonne lorry arrived here at the Ironworks to deliver thousands of weapons – including knives and guns – which were all collected from the streets of Manchester.

It's a sobering thought.
