Merry Christmas to all from the snowy Pacific Northwest. The photo was taken in 2019 on a snowshoeing excursion to Herman Saddle in the North Cascades. We seem to be having a similar winter with cold temperatures and a lot of snow.

Taken on a 2014 snowshoeing excursion to Artist's Point in the North Cascades. Artist's Point is on a ridge north of Mount Baker and there is road, closed in the winter but open in the summer. It is a favorite snowshoeing destination when we are west of the mountains in the winter.

Last Friday we traveled to western Washington stopping to hike in the Enchantments. We hiked in snow to Colchuck Lake, a hike of ten miles and 2500 feet of elevation. The day started with rain and snow but cleared as we reached the lake. The Enchantments are a region in the Cascade Mountains of Washington near Leavenworth.

Taken on the way to Colchuck Lake in the Enchantments, a region in the Cascades Mountains of Washington. We hiked through snow most of the way and snow was falling when we started out but the weather cleared as we reached the lake.

This is Mount Shuksan from Picture Lake at the end of the Mount Baker Highway, one of the most photographed locations in Washington. The glacier is Curtis Glacier.

This was Mount Shuksan, Austin Pass and Upper Bagley Lake from the Chain Lakes Trail in the North Cascades near Mount Baker. We had gone hiking there with other family members after an early snowfall.

On a recent trip to western Washington to visit with family there, we hiked partway up to Herman Saddle near Mount Baker. There was not enough snow for snowshoes - this was October - but enough to enjoy the winter weather there. The day was very bright and so many of the photos I took were under-exposed. This photo is of Lower Bagley Lake between the ski resort and Austin Pass. Table Mountain is visible in the background.

This is Lower Bagley Lake in late October. Bagley Lakes are near Mount Baker in the North Cascades and are a popular hiking and snowshoeing area year around. The photo was taken near the overflow parking lot for the Heather Meadows Ski Area.
