On the left are various Optare Tempo X1200SR new to Trent Barton (trentbarton) in May 2012. Number 90 (YJ12 GWE) facing the camera and 93 (YJ12 GWK) parallel to the Enviros.

Sunday 5 May 2024 – A line up of Scania N230UD OmniCity double deckers seen through the fencing at the Ipswich Buses garage yard in Sir Alf Ramsey Way, Ipswich. Around 23 buses like this are in the fleet which were new to different operators to work Transport for London (TfL) contracts.

The buses in this line up had all been new to Centrewest in October 2011 which were later operated by Metroline West. Both companies were related.

For a number of years Ipswich Buses named all of its vehicles but now only a few carry names. Only two buses in this line up carry names which remember Ipswich Town Football Club personnel. Bus 44 is named ‘Sir Alf Ramsey’ (Manager of the club for many years and manager of the England team in 1966) and bus 36 is named ‘Kevin Beattie - ITFC No. 6’, (a player who died from cancer at the age of 64 in 2018).

Sunday 5 May 2024 – Ipswich Buses 36 (YR61 RUC) and 33 (YR61 RRV) seen through the fencing at the Ipswich Buses garage yard in Sir Alf Ramsey Way, Ipswich.

Both are Scania N230UD OmniCity double deckers that had been new to Centrewest (London) in October 2011 as their SN36054 and SN36038 latterly operated by Metroline West as SN1942 and SN1926.

Ipswich Buses has around 23 buses like this which were new to different operators to work Transport for London (TfL) contracts.

For a number of years Ipswich Buses named all of its vehicles but now only a few carry names. This bus is named ‘Kevin Beattie - ITFC No. 6’, a footballer at Ipswich Town Football Club who died from cancer at the age of 64 in 2018.

In the background is one of the pair of former Go North East Caetano Levante bodied Volvo B11RTs (either number 2 (SGZ 1002 ex BX65 WDA) or 3 (SGZ 1003 ex BX65 WDD) – perhaps the former) and number 1 (SGZ 1001), a Jonckheere Modulo bodied Volvo B7R new to Skills, Nottingham in May 2002 registered FL02 ZXK.

Wednesday 25 April 2012 (1353) - Ipswich Buses 60 (PJ54 YZT), an East Lancs Omnidekka bodied Scania N94UD new in January 2005, seen leaving Bury St Edmunds bus station on the return journey of a day excursion to the town.

Parked alongside is Mulleys Motorways MUI 7924, a Wright Axcess Ultralow bodied Scania L113CRB which was new in December 1997 as Chester City Transport 85 (R85 EMB). Mulleys acquired the bus from Anglianbus, Beccles.

Wednesday 5 April 2017 (1204) – Reading Buses services 21a (Town Centre to the University) is branded ‘Spritzer’ and has features tailored towards the student traveller. In the upper deck ‘lounge zone’ seating area this miniature ‘juke box’ can play music from Bluetooth technology. Other features include tables and a mini library. Friday 8 July 2022 (0936) – Ipswich Buses 55 (PN52 XBO), an East Lancs bodied DAF DB250 new in October 2002, seen in the yard of the Constantine Road garage.

This is now one of the oldest buses in the Ipswich Buses fleet which stands at just under 80 vehicles and visually is quite standardised. At the time of this visit the main body types were:

Double deckers (33) of two body types:
Scania N230UD OmniCity (23)
East Lancs Myllenium/OmniDekka (10)

Single deckers buses (41) of four body types:
ADL Enviro200 (23)
Optare Tempo X1200SR (13)
Mercedes-Benz Citaro (3)
Wright Eclipse Urban (2)

To complete the fleet there were also three single deck coaches.
