First sighting of this comet; 5-1-2015 0:15
Canon EOS 400D
ISO 1600, f/2.8, T 15 sec, f = 80 mm
Very poor conditions, full moon, passing airplanes!
This comet migth become a nice target, the conditions are only improving in the comming weeks

Two versions of the same exposures, a "normal" color version and a negative B/W version. The latter is often used to bring out faint features in astronomical pictures.(in this case the very fait tail of the comet)
For this picture I added 5 exposures, ISO 1600 each T= 60 sec. f = 200 mm f/2.8
The exposures were made with a Canon 400D and a Tamron zoom f/2.8 (70 to 200 mm)
A small telescope was used for tracking

The comet Lovejoy is near the Polar Star (brightest star in this picture), so easy to photograph because you don,t have to track. Lovejoy is the blue spot (nebulosity) in the down right corner of the picture.
Point your camera to the Polar Star, f/2,8, f= 70mm, T 30 sec, ISO 800. Try it, may be your first (and last) comet picture is a success

Combined 16 exposures centered on the comet. This gives the artifacts around the brighter stars.
Shown as a negative in order to show the faint coma around the core of the comet

combined 9 exposures. Fieldsize = 12.2 x 18.1 degree (note: Moon is about 0.5 degree). Tracked with a small telescope.
IC 4665 is an open starcluster, M14 and NGC 6366 are globular clusters, the labeled stars are part of the constellation Ophiuchus (Schlangenträger). Also given is the picture of 252P/Linear I made a week ago. The line that is visible is a passing satelite.

15, 16 und 17 Dezember in der Nähe der Plejades. Müsste leicht mit ein DSLR zu fotografieren sein. Aber Kometen sind oft schwer vorhersagbar

took 15 seconds exposures during one hour of this area of sky. Found 5 meteors of which 2 very bright ones. They were all five in the Auriga region. As a byproduct I found the comet Wirtanen

For this exposure I had to schwitch from f=17 mm to f=50 mm. Means positioning the camera and focussing again. Got it just in time before the clouds took over, matter of a few minutes

Combined 30 exposures (15 seconds each). f=128 mm, f/2.8 and ISO 1600. Used telescope for tracking. Clearly visible the comet itself and the extended coma.
