An Alpine Apollo-Butterfly (Parnassius phoebus) on a Carduus personata. Seen in the Nature Park Zillertal Alps on the Astegg near Mayrhofen (Tyrol, Austria) at an altitude of approx. 1,200 m.

Rana catesbaiana illustra (Enlightened Bullfrog / Erleuchteter Ochsenfrosch) ;-)))

The bullfrog isn't very common within the European Alps, because it doesn't find enough food (mice, fishes, amphibians and other small animals) during wintertime. This individual specimen was seen yesterday at the Pillersee (North Tyrol, Austria). Obviously it has successfilly adapted itself to Light Nutrition.

In den Alpen ist der Ochsenfrosch kaum verbreitet. Dort findet er im Winter nämlich kaum Nahrung (Mäuse, Fische, Amphibien und andere Kleintiere). Dieses gestern am Pillersee gesichtete Exemplar hat sich jedoch offenbar erfolgreich auf Lichtnahrung umgestellt.

Das Pillerseetal ist auch in diesem Jahr wieder vom Gebell von ca. 1.000 Huskies erfüllt (St. Ulrich, Tirol). Hier eines der seltenen 14er-Gespanne.

Blind trust in the knowledge of the Berbers and their dromedars while a sandstorm.
(Captured with Lumix DMC-FX07 out of an underwater box. Nevertheless the camera had to be repaired afterwards. Dust particles of the Sahara are getting everywhere!)

(Fotografiert mit einer Lumix DMC-FX07 aus einem Unterwassergehäuse heraus. Nach dieser Expedition musste die Kamera dennoch zur Reparatur. Saharastaub kommt überall hin!)

There isn't any fence in the desert. But dromedarys have the bad habit to walk kilometres away, looking for food. Therefore their legs are fettered a little bit while camping.

In der Wüste gibt es keine Zäune. Aber Dromedare haben die Angewohnheit, sich auf der Suche nach Fressbarem kilometerweit vom Lager zu entfernen. Deshalb werden ihre Vorderbeine abends zusammengebunden.
