Mormo maura - A large-winged, sombre-coloured moth, which is distributed locally throughout much of Britain, and common in places.
It hides by day in old buildings and sheds, and frequents damp localities as well as waste ground and gardens.

We named this Jackdaw 'Long John Silver' as he only had one leg. He came to expect the food we put out, and developed a trick of getting into the bird feeder despite his disability.

Siegfried is so small that he can squeeze inside a squirrel-proof bird feeder. We purchased some cheap peanuts, which he is welcome to take because in due course he will fatten up and no-longer have access!

A very brave, determined and resourceful squirrel who visits us regularly. He is named Siegfried after the character in The Ring of the Nibelungen, who grew up amongst nature and did not know fear.

DOF too shallow, ISO too high. Pity. No time to alter the settings: the bird suddenly appeared, and then was gone.
