I have saved my favorite picture from the Ashland Garden Tour for the last! Yes, after 42 pictures, I have FINALLY reached the end of this collection.

How about this for an extremely unusual flower? I found these blossoms on a plant with sharp, pine-like needles. I've never seen anything like them, have you? A huge THANKS to Fizgig and Tiabunna for identifying this amazing flower for me!

I didn't realize that I had this picture ready to go! In the same garden that featured the other columbines that I've shared, there were also these. In fact, I have another picture I shared earlier in this project, so if you'd like to see all of the columbine pictures at once, just roll your mouse over the upper left corner! Sometimes luck is in your favor, and it certainly was when I found this beautiful red and white columbine. I had never seen one before, but even more surprising was that there were purple and white ones and golden yellow ones as well! On top of that, the light was just right to show the translucence of the petals, too. You can see the purple and white flower by rolling your mouse over the upper left corner of this image!

A couple of years ago, Steve and I went on a garden tour down in Ashland, Oregon. It was a wonderful opportunity to take pictures of a zillion flowers and plants, and by day's end my poor head was spinning! Here is the lovely face of a golden columbine that I captured!

Playing with a very shallow depth of field is so much fun, and is a great way to call attention to certain details. Here I'm showing the edges of the petals of an aster flower, while the rest of the flower falls away into blur. This flower was in a garden which was part of a walking tour that Steve and I went on a couple of years ago in Ashland.

A few years ago, Steve and I went on a tour of gardens in the town of Ashland, which is about an hour's drive from our home. There are a lot of lavish gardens there and we had a marvelous time traipsing from one glorious display to the next.

At one garden, I found these beautiful flower and got lucky with the late afternoon sun. With this sort of flower, the entire spike of individual blooms is appreciated, so I decided to pay attention to just a single blossom, letting the rest of the blooms fall away into bokeh. :)

I found this gorgeous blossom when Steve and I spent the day at Ashland's Garden Tour. There were many of these flower in various stages of bloom and I had a great time taking pictures of them!

Today was the Ashland Garden Tour, and Steve and I had a wonderful time visiting 5 beautiful gardens and taking pictures of some of the gorgeous blossoms that I saw. But today was also very special, because one of our friends from our cycling club invited me to display some of my flower photography at her home, which was one of the featured gardens!! Thank you so much, Elaine!! Such a generous offer, I was delighted at the comments that I got about my pictures!

After the garden tour, Steve and I went to another friend's home for a sumptuous dinner and great conversation. This lovely phlox blossom was in my friend Sunny & Mike's front yard and its bright and cheery color worked perfectly to express how I felt about today, and to having such dear friends!

A few years back, Steve and I went on a tour of gardens in the nearby town of Ashland. By day's end, I was totally fried, and since that year I was doing a 365 Project (post one picture every day for a year), only one image from the nearly 1,000 that I took would be posted. In the end, I picked a picture from my friend Elaine's garden, and though I would end up processing many pictures from her garden, these photos have sat, for the most part, completely untouched. What a tragedy...the number of flowers, the variety, the colors, the interesting shapes...there is a veritable treasure trove in this folder.

Tonight I dipped a toe in. My first glance and...BAM! I found this poppy in its last hurrah, with petals giving way in the afternoon sun, and yet still so lovely. Time to show yourself, you beautiful thing!!

I'm going to spend some time in this folder because there are so many lovely flowers that deserve a chance to be seen. Stay tuned...I hope to reveal lots of stunning blossoms from my photographic adventures that day. If any of them are even half as successful as this one, I'll be a very happy camper! :)

This was a picture I captured at one of the last gardens we visited...thanks to Fizgig and also my friend Karen Forsythe for the ID, these are called Jupiter's Beard or Red Valerian, aka Centranthus ruber. You guys are awesome!! :)

Did you know that there are communities that have such beautiful gardens that they organize actual tours to visit them? Steve and I went on such a tour in the lovely town of Ashland, Oregon, and my, oh my, did we have a wonderful day! Here is another picture that I took when I visited my friend's garden down in Ashland, Oregon. Insects were plentiful and I remember this bee taking lots of time as it hovered around and then landed on each of these blossoms. (Do you happen to know what these flowers are called? Some sort of Penstemen maybe?)

Lavender is a color, but it's also the name of an herb. This herb has gorgeous flowers and the plant is very easy to grow because it's drought-tolerant. Combine that with its deer and rabbit-resistance and it's easy to see why this hardy shrub is a favorite in many gardens! I found this beauty at a local garden tour in Ashland a few years ago.

These are some flowers I photographed when Steve and I went on a garden tour down in Ashland a few years ago. I wanted to have sharp focus on only the flowers in front, while allowing everything else to fade off into bokeh. You can see an entire flower cluster in another image that I've added in a note above. :)

I have no idea what kind of flower this is, but it's gorgeous! I discovered it at one of the gardens that Steve and I visited on a garden tour a few years ago in Ashland. So many gardens, so many flowers and plants to photograph...by the end of the day, my head was spinning!!

I was in the middle of my 365 Project at the time and I ended up processing only a few of the pictures I took that day. A shame because there were many gems in there, if only I would jump in and work on some.

Well, a few days ago I took a peek, and found a beautiful poppy, and that was that. I spent the past weekend working on pictures and I have almost 30 images to share now, including this one! I'm so happy I made the effort because these flowers deserve to get some attention! :)

What a breath-taking sight to see these flowers with the sun shining through them. I had never seen a columbine in this color before and I was totally enchanted by its beauty. This flower was growing with several other columbine plants and I will be sharing a picture of a magenta and white one that also turned out nicely!

This is another image from the Garden Tour I went on a few years ago in Ashland. I cannot express how wonderful it is to have this Archive 366 Project, because who knows if I'd ever have gotten around to processing these pictures. I finally finished with the folder and in the end there are about 30 in all that I worked on over the past few days. (I have another picture of a columbine you can see in a note on the image)

I highly recommend that you create some excuse that forces you to dig around in some of your older photo photos and pull out some gems. You will love the way it makes you feel--it really is like finding long lost treasure! :)

I'm a sucker for backlit flowers, and these stopped me in my tracks! Pretty blue stars on extra hairy stems and countless buds that promise a grand show over the coming weeks. I would have loved to have seen this plant at the height of its bloom, but this sight was a very pretty one indeed. :)
