Lichtsäule (Lichteffekt)

Die Lichtsäule ist ein Lichteffekt in der Atmosphäre und gehört zu den Haloerscheinungen. Ausgehend von der Sonne erstreckt sich ein linear ausgedehnter schmaler Lichtstreifen senkrecht nach oben – seltener auch nach unten. Lichtsäulen sind meist dann zu beobachten, wenn die Sonne nah ober- oder unterhalb des Horizonts steht.

Lichtsäulen entstehen durch die Spiegelung des Sonnenlichts an hexagonalen Eisplättchen, die bei nahezu Windstille langsam absinken und sich dabei vorzugsweise horizontal in der Luft ausrichten. Sie sind deshalb nur bei entsprechend windarmen Wetterbedingungen zu beobachten. Im Gegensatz zu den verwandten Haloerscheinungen Unter- und Übersonne und der Tatsache, dass die sechseckigen Eisplättchen in ihrer horizontalen Ausrichtung wechselnde Kippwinkel aufweisen, wird ähnlich einem Glitzerpfad der Sonne auf einer leicht bewegten Wasserfläche eine Lichtsäule sichtbar. Today is the day: January 11th, 2017. Grand opening of Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie.
Live coverage on german TV Channel NDR3 starting 6pm (CET)

During the Grand Opening Festival from Jan 11th to January 17th some famous Orchestras from all over the planet will give guest performances. Besides the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with conductor Riccardo Muti and the "Wiener Philharmoniker", the "Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks" under Mariss Jansons, the "Berliner Philharmoniker" under Simon Rattle, and the "Dresdner Staatskapelle" under Christian Thielemann. Daniel Barenboim will be present with both his Orchestras, the "Staatskapelle Berlin" as well as the "West-Eastern Divan Orchestra" and last but not least the "Simon Bolivar Orchestra" from Venezuela under Gustavo Dudamel performing all 9 Beethoven Symphonies in five performances. And Mitsuko Ushida is also on the list!

Residence Orchestra is the "Elbphilharmonie Orchester" formerly known as "NDR Sinfonieorchester" under Conductor Thomas Hengelbrock.
