This is a Minolta version of the popular "Instamatic" 126 type of camera from years past. Of course, since it's a Minolta, it's better than any Instamatic Kodak or any other company ever made.

It's got real glass lenses, automatic exposure and you can even adjust the focus. Can your Kodak Instamatic X-15 do that? Mine sure can't.

This is a great little camera - it takes really sharp pictures. The meter doesn't seem to work, but that's all right because it has two manual settings that are about all I need.

Apparently, this could have been the best disc camera ever made. Which is not saying much because the format was so small. But, leave it to Minolta to make the best of anything. Too bad they exited the camera business.

This Minolta XG1 belonged to the neighbor of the drummer in my band, and he also had another Minolta XG-1, only it was the third version, this being the first version. He wanted me to fix both cameras and I did. He mainly wanted the other one, so he gave me this one for fixing his.

For some reason, I now have four of these XG1s. The first one I got was intentional, but the rest I just happened to get because they came in some lots of cameras where I mainly wanted a certain other one in the lot. And then this one was given to me.

On Monday, there was a package that arrived in the mail with four used Minolta camera bodies. This Minolta X-370 was one of them. The auction I won said that all four bodies didn't work, but this one just had the dreaded "bad capacitor" issue. I soldered a new capacitor in it and now it works perfectly! Since I only paid $30 for all four cameras, that means this one was a bargain at $7.50. The other three that came with this one was a Minolta X-300s, a Minolta Maxxum 7000 and a Minolta XG-7, which also works because I took this picture with it.

Water rinse: 2 minutes (to keep chemicals clean)
Blix: 6 ½ minutes at 102 degrees
Water rinse: 2 minutes at approx. 100 degrees
Stabilizer: 1 minute at room temperature
Water rinse: 2 minutes
Kodak Photo-Flo 200: 1 minute

After the X-300 had been out a couple years, Minolta updated the body styling. They called this camera the X-300s for the European market and the X-370n for the North American market.

This is the more common black and silver version of the Minolta X-300. They also came in an all-black bodied version. They were named the X-370 for the North American market and there wasn't an all-black version of the X-370. Well, there was, but it was called an X-7A.

This Minolta X-7 is part of the XG family of cameras. It came in today and I only paid $3.49 for it from KEH Camera. This model was first released in 1980. (This particular version was released in 1982.)

I only paid $3.54 for this camera and lens together - and it works fine! Now I just have to run some film through it to give a full test.

Update:
I ran a roll of black and white film through it and it works absolutely perfectly!

I picked up this great old Minolta X-9 last year, but only got it photographed a couple weeks ago. It's almost the identical same camera as the Minolta X-370N, but with the addition of a depth-of-field preview button. It works great and uses all my Minolta MD and MC-mount lenses.

I just got this Minolta a few days ago and it's in mint condition! Basically, it's the all-black bodied version of the Minolta XG 1, which was released in 1979 and this was also released in 1979, but only for a short period of time. It is a rare camera.
