Also from The Beatles' movie Yellow Submarine (1969) Two different movie trailers that feature lots of contrasting colors!
This week's challenge is from Gillian: "Art in general...create an image inspired by one of the artists."

Molly loves getting rides on chairs, stools or in boxes and here she is getting a free wheel barrow ride, on a load of firewood, from my husband. (Original in note.)

I used the program "Deep Dream Generator" (from PaulO) and chose the "Van Gogh" filter to create this little work of art.

Edgar Winter from his "They Only Come Out at Night" album (1972)

Such a bummer about Ipernity and yet, the challenge remains... I hope to know where I will be going soon, possibly Flickr (ack!), but plan to hang out on Ipernity for the duration (unless everyone leaves, of course.)

This week's SSC Challenge: "Rule of Thirds"

It has been so gray and dreary here that I thought I'd spruce up this image, of a Band-Tailed Pigeon on a maple tree, with a "Night Vision" effect in PXLR.

(Gotta have music.)

This week features a trip to the historic mill town of Port Gamble

Built in 1853 it is one of the oldest towns in Washington state and actually predates Washington becoming a state in 1889. All the houses and buildings in the town are well over a hundred years old and were fashioned after a town in Maine, where the founders originated, giving the town a unique personality.

This is St. Paul's Church which is no longer used for weekly services, but you can still be married here if you choose. A couple of our son's friends got married here last year. The two Redwood trees that stand next to it are easily as old as the church and may even be older.

Carly Simon from her debut album "Carly Simon" (1971) (My favorite song about marriage.)

Live 1971: That's the Way I Always Heard it Should Be
This is at Famous Dave's here in my town. It's a strange idea for a sign when you think about it. A pig roasting some ribs?... Whatever LOL!

Music by Brother Jack McDuff w/George Benson on guitar back in 1965 from his "Hot Barbeque" album. Please enjoy the ribs, the sign, and the music! :D
This week in SSC: "Take a shot of the weirdest or most unusual thing you own."

Is this unusual enough? We had this lookout tower built on our property a few years ago. It overlooks acres of our neighbor's private forest and gives us a view of the Olympic Mountains. (This is where I take a lot of my sunset photos.) Sometimes when we're up here the deer will wander by down below totally oblivious to us up in the trees. I'll include some pics (in the notes) from last summer so you can see the view too.

Jethro Tull from the album "Songs from the Wood" (1977)

Live: Songs from the Wood or Songs from the Wood
Some music, of course:

From the movie soundtrack to "Electric Dreams" (1984)

I went back up to Port Gamble to find this house that I missed on my first trip. I had seen it online but never recognized it while driving through the town. It turns out the rather plain back of the house faces the street and the most picturesque front view faces the sea so you can't see it unless you walk down and around to the front. Ships arrived at this view back in the late 1800s. This is the Walker-Ames House that was built in1889 and is the largest historic home in the town. It has been empty since the town mill closure in 1995 and is also said to be haunted: www.hauntedplaces.org/item/walker-ames-house
I used Silver Efex Pro2 from the Nik Collection for the vintage effect. You can see my original in a note.

Carly Simon from her "Boys in the Trees" album (1978)

This is a teeny tiny, jointed teddy bear made by a talented lady in England. He stands about 2 inches (or 5 cm) tall.

I don't own a "macro" lens but out of curiosity, I made a real inexpensive purchase a while ago of some Meike 10 & 16mm extension tubes ($18.95 on Amazon!) I attached both of them to my 55-210mm lens and played around. Let me know what you think of the quality.
I took this at the market today. There were so many beautiful flowers it was amazing!

This is an unreleased song that did not make it onto Madonna's "Ray of Light" album (1998)
Madonna: Like a Flower or Like a Flower

And for my Italian friends, it was also sung by Laura Pausini from her "Resta in Ascolto" album (2004)
This week in SSC: Animal Portrait

Molly was dead serious about being my subject this week so here is my portrait. When she saw that I had cropped it she was rather upset. She wanted everyone to see what she was sitting in (see full photo below.) She loves avocados and will eat them smashed on a spoon. This is her favorite box which my son has dubbed the "Avo-copter" since she gets rides around the house in it. She's quite the character. :)

Emily Kinney from her album "This is War" (2015)
