The Basilica of Superga , located at 672 metres above the sea level, offers a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of Turin, the surrounding Piedmont plains, and the Alps.

The hill is also known for the 1949 air disaster. A plane carrying the "Grande Torino" football team—one of the greatest squads in Italian history—crashed into the embankment at the rear of the Basilica in thick fog, killing everyone on board. A memorial at the site remains a place of pilgrimage for sports fans today.

Muenster, the cultural centre of Westphalia, is a city with a population of more than 250.000 of which nearly 50.000 are students at the University of Muenster. So, the cultural scene is diverse. One of the hotspots is "Gleis 22" near the main train station.

I first saw "Too Many Zoos" ten years ago in Nice. They've aged, but they haven't lost their power.

Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille is a town with approximately 1,800 inhabitants. Around 1900, when rural depopulation began, the population was twice as high.

In August 2025, 10,000 visitors gathered here to experience the 36th “Festival du Monastier”. A festival that revolves around brass instruments across a very broad spectrum, from Baroque to Hip Hop and back.

The music starts in the morning.

This is Touzdec, a brass band that spreads good cheer. Their sound sometimes seems improvised, is imaginative, and very catchy.

"Jazz in Marciac" is a jazz festival that takes place over a period of three weeks in July/August. It attracts about 200.000 visitors to gather in Marciac, a small medieval town with about 1200 inhabitants.

For two days, Nico Russo played guitar and his partner Ludovic Bulcourt played accordion under the arcades of the market square. They were truly fantastic and played gypsy swing in the style of Django Reinhardt. They were a surprise for me and deserved a bigger stage in Marciac.

Als Perkussionsinstrument verwendete Löffel gehören nach ihrer Tonerzeugung – wenn sie paarweise gegeneinander geschlagen werden – zu den Gegenschlagidiophonen, also Klappern, und – wenn sie gegen einen nichtklingenden Körper geschlagen werden – zu den Aufschlagidiophonen. Löffel aus Metall oder Holz kommen in unterschiedlichen Spielweisen in vielen Kulturen vor. Überwiegend werden sie in der Volksmusik und zur Tanzbegleitung verwendet. Ihr Klang ist metallisch oder dem von Kastagnetten ähnlich.

Spieltechnik
Löffelhaltung hauptsächlich in Europa und den Vereinigten Staaten
In Europa, in Kanada und den Vereinigten Staaten benutzt man zwei übliche Haushaltslöffel oder Holzlöffel, deren Stiele zwischen Daumen, Zeigefinger und Mittelfinger einer Hand eingeklemmt werden, sodass die konvexen Flächen in geringem Abstand zueinander positioniert sind. Trifft der Spieler die andere Hand, einen Oberschenkel oder einen anderen Körperteil, so schlagen die Löffel gegeneinander.
Manche Löffelspieler benutzen zwei Löffelpaare gleichzeitig, indem sie das eine Paar in der rechten und das andere Paar in der linken Hand halten.
In der traditionellen russischen Musik werden meistens drei Löffel benutzt, wobei ein Löffel gegen zwei andere geschlagen wird.

Klang
Der Klang der Löffel hängt von mehreren Faktoren ab. Zum einen bestimmt das Material, aus dem die Löffel hergestellt sind, die klanglichen Eigenschaften. Die Metalllöffel klingen härter und heller als die Holzlöffel. Bei den Holzlöffeln ist die Holzart für den Klang mitentscheidend. Zum anderen hängt der Klang von der Technik des Spielers ab. So kann man vor allem bei den Holzlöffeln einen hellen und offenen oder einen dunklen und gedämpften Klang erzeugen. Auch die Löffelgröße bestimmt den klanglichen Charakter.

The Carcassonne Festival is a fantastic, month-long festival with numerous concerts! It's always a pleasure to spend a few nights here during the festival. Most concerts are free – and the nights can be very long.

I first saw Caravan Palace ten years ago in Nice. I was very impressed and have seen them live twice more since then. Their sound is rooted in the swing music of the 1920s and the music of Django Reinhardt, but they have developed it into "electro swing" catapulting the dance music into the 21. century.

The band has sligtly changed over the last ten years. Of course we all got older and the stage performing has changed a bit including now a kind of LED-light show. Frontwoman and singer Zoé Colotis is still the center of the show and thrills the audience.
It was truly a remarkable concert, though the evening ended in pouring rain later.

The Ivorian singer and songwriter Tiken Jah Fakoly is considered one of the most influential reggae musicians in Africa. He plays roots reggae and sings mostly in French or African languages. Almost all of his lyrics are political. In his 1996 song "Mangercratie", he criticizes his country's political leadership and advocates for everyone's right to food. Despite censorship, this song remained in the charts for months. After receiving death threats due to his lyrics Tiken Jah Fakoly went into exile in Mali in 2003. Several songs also strongly criticize the French government's policy toward Africa, which has massively supported African dictatorships in recent decades.

Tiken Jah Fakoly was celebrated by a large, enthusiastic audience. Everyone sang along!
