Plovdiv, formerly Philippopolis, is the second largest city in Bulgaria. It is located in the southern part of the country, in the central part of the fertile Upper Thracian Lowland, on the Maritsa River.
The first settlements within the borders of modern Plovdiv date back to the Neolithic era and are dated around 6,000 BC.
Around 1200 BC, a Thracian settlement called Eumolpia was located here.
In 342 BC, the city was conquered by Philip II of Macedon, who named it Philippopolis in his honor.

This welcome seat just below the hilltop castle of Dinas Bran enjoys great views. How long it has been here, who knows? A nice cool breeze is to be had here to cool us down after the climb so far but that breeze can turn, no doubt to a freezing gale at times, and not only in winter.
The view here is part of the panoramic walk belonging to the mountain called Creigiau Eglwyseg (455 m). This is a landscape of prehistoric cairns and archaeological sites dating from the Bronze Age. We actually did a lot of that walk on our last visit here in 2017 but now our age interferes with a present adventure. See PiP - last photo and photo below, of a view from there.

HBM! The 20 hectare Horsbere Brook flood storage area was created in 2010 following a series of flash floods that affected more than 300 homes in Gloucester. The £1.5m project involved creating a huge ‘depression’ capable of accommodating the equivalent of 70 Olympic swimming pools full of water. If there’s torrential rain the water is now diverted into the depression, and it is then slowly released later.

As well as reducing the risk of flooding the storage area was also designed to be a natural looking ‘wetland’ landscape, and, over the last few years, it has become a delightful local nature reserve – attracting many rare birds to the area. Otters have also been spotted in the brook.

Tits, kingfishers, egrets, heron, swans and a wide range of both rare and more common birds are now regularly spotted here.

As the sun starts to melt away the early morning mist here on Loch Lomond, its famous mountain shows its head.

Ben Lomond is the most southerly Munro (a Scottish mountain over 3,000 feet). Rising to 974 meters (3,196 ft), it is located on the eastern shores of Loch Lomond within Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. It is highly accessible from Glasgow and offers stunning loch views.

This photo was taken by a Minolta Autocord Seikosha-MX (Chiyoko) TLR using Chiyoko Rokkor 75mm f/3.2 & 3.5 lenses with a HOYA HMC 49mm O[G] filter attached to a 30mm to 49mm bayonet TLR adapter using Bergger Pancro 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitalized by Photoshop.

The castle sits upon a steep hill overlooking the Welsh town of Llangollen and today we will see if we are still fit enough to get to the top after having done so some years back. We are about half way up here and looking down the Dee Valley in the direction of Horseshoe Falls. – Yes we made it to the top! See PiP for bottom view.

This is a view from our holiday cottage window towards the Small Islands and the Isle of Skye. Each evening we sat for above an hour watching the sun go down almost at the centre of this scene. We see here on the left The Island of Rum, then with a bigger space than it appears here from the centre (Point of Sleat) , the Isle of Skye. There is a big gap between the two islands. If I went wider angle here we would also see the Island of Eigg to the left of Rum and further on the right, the rugged Torridon Mountains of Skye.
