Last in this series of Scirocco images is this silver Scala and it's probably one of the cleanest examples I saw on show that year ... aside from my own of course!

And it's the last to be added to the VW North West 2011 album.

From 1992, the last year of Mk2 Scirocco production, comes this ultra clean and subtly modified Scala.

At the time the car belonged to a fellow member of the Scirocco Register.

He lived in the Aberdeen area, but would think nothing of travelling down South in it to attend car shows or even local meets in England often clocking up several hundred miles per trip.

Close up shot of the engine in yet another red Scirocco.

This one according to the records is a GT, but the badge it carried on the B-pillars clearly showed it to be a GTII.

Almost time to finish of this album I think, so let's go out with some examples of my favourite VW, the Mk2 Scirocco ... starting with this Scala from 1990.

It had a few dings here and there like the almost ubiquitous chips on the bonnet's leading edge, but overall it was pretty neat for a car that at the time I took this shot was getting on for being 20 years old.

Not sure of the exact year on this one as the owner had removed the registration plate for the show.

However, what is certain is that it's a Mk3 Golf, so built sometime in the Nineties, and it was exceptionally pleasing on the eye!

This terrific line up was put together by the Last Edition Beetle Register - a group of owners and enthusiasts of the last 300 Volkswagen Beetles to have been built for the United Kingdom.

Last Edition Beetles were all made in 1978, originally finished in silver metallic paint, and are not to be confused with the 3000 'Last Edition' cars that VW produced in 2003 to mark the end of production in Puebla, Mexico which was the last factory anywhere in the world to produce these iconic cars.

The unmistakable lines of the Rallye Golf, which first appeared in 1989. Distinguishable by its box-flared wheel arches (similar to the Audi quattro, BMW E30 M3 and Lancia Delta Integrale) and rectangular projector headlamps.

Only around 5,000 of these very powerful Golf variants were built and they cost twice as much as a base Golf GTI.

Not too sure about the wheels the owner had fitted, but otherwise an exceptional looking car. Sadly, it no longer shows up on the DVLA records so it may not be around anymore.
