C’est le seul département normand concerné : la Manche est placée en vigilance orange canicule par Météo-France ce lundi 25 mai 2026, jusqu’à mercredi 27 mai 2026. C’est le seul des cinq départements normands dans ce cas, pour l’instant.
La préfecture de la Manche a relayé tôt ce lundi 25 mai 2026 le message de Météo-France : le département est placé en vigilance orange canicule jusqu’à mercredi 27 mai. Elle avait d’abord été placée en vigilance jaune dans la matinée avant que la vigilance soit rehaussée peu avant 16 h

Il est précisé que les températures pourront atteindre entre 34 et 36 degrés ce mardi, avec des températures plus faibles dans l’Est Cotentin et sur la presqu’île du Cotentin.

Das Schulschiff Esmeralda (Kennung: BE-43) der chilenischen Marine.

Die Esmeralda wurde ursprünglich als Don Juan de Austria im Auftrag der spanischen Marine auf Kiel gelegt. Durch ein Großfeuer auf der Werft wurde das Schiff vollständig zerstört, die Werft war insolvent und die spanische Regierung übernahm die Finanzierung des Wiederaufbaus. Schließlich wurde es für die chilenische Marine als Esmeralda fertig gebaut und 1954 in Dienst gestellt, weil Spanien die angehäuften Schulden für Salpeterlieferungen aus Chile nicht zurückzahlen konnte und dafür Warenlieferungen als Kompensation vorschlug. Das Schiff ist das sechste Schiff der chilenischen Marine dieses Namens. Es unternahm zahlreiche Ausbildungsfahrten (span. „Cruceros de Instrucción“), die es zu Häfen in allen Erdteilen führte. Außerdem nahm die Esmeralda auch an mehreren Großseglerregatten teil.

Nach dem Militärputsch von 1973 gegen die Regierung von Salvador Allende wurde die Esmeralda unter Diktator Pinochet im Hafen Valparaíso als Folterschiff für Regimegegner verwendet. Später wurde das Schiff von der chilenischen Regierung wieder in Fahrt gebracht. Auf Grund der Verwendung als Gefängnisschiff, auf dem auch gefoltert und getötet wurde, verweigerten zahlreiche Regierungen dem Schiff in der Folge das Befahren ihrer Hoheitsgewässer. Die Drei Städte (auch Cottonera genannt) liegen gegenüber Maltas Hauptstadt Valletta am Grand Harbour. Birgu/ Vittoriosa ist seit Zeiten der Phönizier besiedelt, von 1530 -1571 war es die erste Hauptstadt der Johanniter. Senglea wurde nach 1551 auf der Halbinsel gegenüber gegründet. Bormla ist ebenfalls phönizischen Ursprungs.

Another image looking across the marina from the East Quay this time to the colourful market stalls on the Southern quayside at Watchet on the Somerset Coast!

The long retired lifeboat in center of the image is possibly an ex RNLI Liverpool class boat from around 1939,
although this is not conclusive, any information would be welcome!
