Xelabus Plaxton President bodied Dennis Trident 526/J8XEL (formerly Y856GCD) at ASDA Fareham on ASDA Free Bus duty. As is the case with many Xelabus vehicles, this registration has been used before within the fleet, having previously been on Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart 404.

Sunday 3 December 2017 saw an extensive programme of rail replacement services, involving several operators, run from Havant station as trains did not run between Southampton and Havant or Havant and Barnham.

I am always pleased to see an Xelabus vehicle and the company was represented by Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TL 530/LX53AZU. Seen in here in Market Parade, outside Havant Park, it was assigned to Southampton duties (via Swanwick, Fareham and Cosham).

The Xelabus fleet never ceases to provide interest for the enthusiast photographer. Today's vehicle on the ASDA Free Bus, seen at the Fareham store, was East Lancs Myllennium Vyking bodied Volvo B7TL PL51LGC formerly Plymouth Citybus 412 and now 537 with the Hampshire company.

The ever-changing Xelabus fleet sees vehicle acquisition and disposal accompanied by fleet number changes and goodness knows how many moves of premium plates.

For the time being L6XEL is on the company's no. 505, a Northern Counties bodied Volvo Olympian, seen here in Pound Tree Road, Southampton.

The Xelabus fleet is difficult to follow as plates and fleet numbers change frequently. Plaxton bodied Dennis Dart SLF 402/H9XEL was pictured eastbound on Pound Tree Lane, Southampton and, a few minutes later, westbound on the same road as it ran just ahead of the Zany Zebras parade [qv].

The registration was previously seen on a Dart with fleet number 409 and the name Patricia and another with fleet number 407, so I assume this is a different vehicle. Any confirmed information would be welcome.

I have acheived inconsistent results with my photographs of moving buses especially in the variable light conditions prevalent in the UK, so I like places like this.

Pound Tree Lane in Southampton has a mixture of bus stands and stops and sees a variety of users and liveries. In this shot Xelabus Northern Counties bodied Volvo Olympian 505/L6XEL is seen with First Wright Eclipse Urban bodied Volvo B7RLE 69245/YJ07WFM behind. In the distance are two First Wrightbus StreetLite DFs with City Red branding, 47425/SK63KMV (rear) and 47424/SK63KMU.

The Xelabus plate is another of those previously seen on at least one other vehicle.

My document of the Xelabus fleet grows with this picture of Scania OmniCity 421/YR10AZT at ASDA Fareham before operating an afternoon service on Asda Free Bus.

Xelabus uses a wide variety of its vehicles on the service as many of my previous photographs record.

I don't think any bus company has brought me as much joy and interest as Xelabus. The latest vehicle to come to my attention, again on ASDA Freebus service at the Fareham store, is Northern Counties bodied Leyland Olympian 514/H551VAT, former Stephensons 951.

Since I photographed this Xelabus Optare Spectra bodied DAF DB250 L131ELJ on 7 October 2014, it has lost its St Vincent College vinyls. In fact, browsing several pictures of the vehicle suggests that it carried those vinyls for only a short while. Today, it was back at ASDA Fareham on Freebus duties.

Geotagging should really say Fareham
