The stadhuis (city hall) of Bolsward is one of the most beautiful buildings of the province of Friesland. The richly decorated building was built between 1614 and 1617 in a Frisian mannerism style (late Renaissance).

Once the municipality of Bolsward became included in the municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân in 2011, the city hall lost its traditional function. The building nowadays has a new function as museum and cultural center.

Am Dienstag lernten wir nach nächtlicher Überfahrt die dritte finnische Stadt kennen: Hamina. Hamina wurde ursprünglich als sternförmige Festung angelegt. Das Stadtzentrum mit dem Rathaus in der Mitte und strahlenfürmig nach außen verlaufenden Straßen lässt dies heute noch gut erkennen.

Wir sind morgens in Helsinki angekommen und nach dem Frühstück brachte uns ein Bus in die Kleinstadt Porvoo, wo wir leider bei Regenwetter ankamen. Das alte Rathaus wird hier als Museum genutzt.

Stein am Rhein - originally a small fishing village, located where Lake Constance becomes river Rhine (again) – developed in the 11the century when Emperor Henry II transferred the St. Benedictine St. George’s Abbey to its current location. He granted the abbey ample rights and the hamlet became a prosperous commercial center.

Nowadays Stein am Rhein is well known for its preserved old center, with narrow streets lined with half-timbered houses. But the highlight of the town is the Rathausplatz (City hall square), whose perimeter is lined with houses with magnificent painted façades. Many of the houses have beautiful bay windows. For good reason the square is considered being the most picturesque of the country.

The Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) with its colourful façade was built from 1422 in Gothic style. Work on the impressive building lasted 14 years. In 1576, the building was modified with a Renaissance-style stepped gable. The bells at the top bear the date 1617. There were also changes in the 16th and 17th centuries. The town hall was renovated in 1885/87 and the façade paintings were renewed in 1972-1975 based on 19th century originals

The facade, decorated with paintings, a covered staircase leading upstairs, jagged shapes and a beautiful Renaissance door - all this makes it one of the mosty beautiful buildings in South Germany.

The rooms on the upper floors of the Altes Rathaus are still regularly used for meetings of the city council and committees as well as for receptions. The Reichsstädtische Bibliothek (Imperial City Library) and municipal archive are located on the ground floor.

Die St.-Nikolai-Kirche - direkt neben dem Rathaus in Stralsund - ist die älteste der drei großen evangelischen Pfarrkirchen der Stadt. Sie wurde im Jahr 1276 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt.
Das Gotteshaus ist Bestandteil des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbes "Altstädte von Stralsund und Wismar".

Die gotische Backsteinfassade des Stralsunder Rathauses zu fotografieren, ist wegen des Gegenlichtes besonders um die Mittagszeit schwierig.
Am linken Bildrand ist ein Teil des Westwerks der St.-Jakobi-Kirche zu sehen.
Der heimliche Star dieses Bildes ist aber der Kommandant des schwarzgrünen Kampfwagens im Vordergrund ;-) Bitte vergrößern!

Het raadhuis van de voormalige zelfstandige gemeente Ginneken is ontworpen door de Bredase architect Herman Huijsers en in 1792 gebouwd in classicistische stijl. Van zijn hand is ook het raadhuis van Princenhage uit hetzelfde jaar en beide gebouwen vertonen dan ook veel overeenkomsten.

Naast raadhuis was het gebouw ook in gebruik als kantongerecht en huis van arrest. In het souterrain woonde de veldwachter. Op het achterterrein bevindt zich nog een gaaf gevangeniskot inclusief toilet. Een hele verbetering ten opzichte van de ruimte onder de bordestrap die voordien als cel werd gebruikt. Mechelen town hall is located on the east side of the Grote Markt and consists of three parts.

- The Paleis van de Grote Raad (l + PiPs) (Palace of the Great Council) was built in 1526. However, the building was never completed and remained unfinished for almost 400 years. Between 1900 and 1911, it was finally completed according to the original 16th-century plans.

- The Belfry is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the other belfries in Belgium and France. It is a Gothic building from the 14th century and has various Baroque elements from the 17th century. The tower itself was never fully completed as planned. In addition, the north side was demolished to build the Palace of the Grand Council.

- The Lakenhal (r) (Cloth Hall) was built in the early 14th century and was used for trading in textile products. In 1342, a fire broke out, after which there was no money to complete the building.

Unser Rathaus hatte ich eigentlich schon öfter mal in meiner Galerie, aber von dieser Seite des Marktes nicht. Heute Mittag ergab sich die Gelegenheit, weil der Platz relativ frei war. Rechts im Bild befand sich vor kurzem noch das "Winterdorf" mit einer Eisfläche. Die wurde diese Woche nun abgebaut.

So ganz neu ist das "Neue Rathaus" dann aber doch nicht. Es entstand 1907 bis 1911 nach Plänen des Stadtbaurates Richard Möbius. Der monumentale Bau bildet zusammen mit dem Alten Rathaus einen markanten Gebäudekomplex, der auch als Chemnitzer Doppelrathaus bezeichnet wird. Den weißen, hohen Turm des "Alten Rathauses" kann man hier im Bild rechts noch erkennen. Wie das Rathaus früher einmal ausgesehen hat kann man an den relativ hellen Steinen vor allem links des Gebäudes erkennen. Die dunkle Färbung kommt von den Bombennächten im Februar/März 1945 in Chemnitz, als die Stadt in Flammen stand. 80 % der Innenstadt waren danach zerstört. Das Rathaus überlebte das Inferno nahezu unversehrt. Von den Alliierten wurde Chemnitz als „weitere tote Stadt“ abgeschrieben.

Im PIP ist der Chemnitzer Roland zu sehen, welcher vom Dresdner Bildhauer Alexander Höfer geschaffen wurde.

Leipzig, Neues Rathaus

"Das Neue Rathaus in Leipzig ist ein bedeutendes Baudenkmal an der südwestlichen Ecke der Innenstadt. Der Profanbau wurde zwischen 1899 und 1905 nach Plänen von Hugo Licht errichtet und mit der Fertigstellung des Stadthauses im Jahr 1912 komplettiert. Er dient als Sitz des Oberbürgermeisters, des Stadtrats und der Stadtverwaltung.
Das Gebäudeensemble verzeichnet auf einer Nettogrundfläche von ca. 65.870 m² insgesamt 1.708 abgeschlossene Räume. Der seinerzeit größte Rathausneubau im Deutschen Reich ist auch heute noch der größte Profanbau dieser Art weltweit." (Wikipedia)
