The Clocktower in Macclesfield was built in 1871 as the administration block and part of the former Parkside Hospital (earlier known as the Macclesfield Union Workhouse and West Park Hospital). The stone chimneys are notable. It has now been converted to apartments and is listed Grade II.

This interesting commercial premises is Nos 69-73 Stafford St, Hanley. The brick structure is ornamented with sandstone lintels, bands and decorative plaques on the upper storeys. The tower is dated 1911 and the flanking panels are lettered LTD with the 'T' much taller than the other letters. This represents the original owners - Teetons Limited , who were listed in the 1904 trade directory as: Wholesale & retail drapers, house furnishers, milliners, mantle warehousemen, & boot & shoe factors. The rear section along the left side has a decorative datestone on 1901. The firm occupied nos 75 & 77 Stafford Street too, where the Leek United Building Society office now stands. Looking at the raised section, I reckon that was once the centre of the building, and the right hand side has been demolished. The full impressive effect is consequently somewhat spoiled.

The Queen's Hotel opened on Marine Parade in June 1880, making it the last of the grand Victorian hotels built in Eastbourne. The architect was Henry Currey. There are still 33 matching chimneypots on the building.

This Victorian hydraulic lift has been out of action for a long time. It is being replaced as part of a major renovation of the Madeira Terrace which forms a significant element of Brighton's seafront.

Looking south across what was the riverside bay platforms, you can still see the large slabs that made up the edge, the infill looks somewhat red in this image. The station roof [canopies] covers all but the actual running lines and were substantially restored in 2012.
The Station buildings, footbridge & canopies are all Grade II listed, as an example of Victorian Railway Engineering from 1978.

At the weekend, this area would be filled by flea market stalls - often, over 200 of them ... fenced off for safety [& revenue protection] from the operational area.

In the town centre of Wymondham, there is a market cross, which is now used as a Tourist Information Centre and is owned by the Town Council.
The original building was destroyed in the Great Fire of Wymondham in 1615; the present building was rebuilt between 1617–18 at a cost of £25-7-0d with funds loaned by local man, Philip Cullyer. The stilted building was like many others designed to protect valuable documents from both flood and vermin.
According to T.F. Thistleton Dyer's English Folklore [London, 1878], live rats were nailed by their tails to the side of the building by way of a deterrent. This bizarre superstition ended in 1902 after a child was bitten, later to die of blood-poisoning.
