D’Orangemolen (d'Orange Mill) is a round brick smock mill. The flour mill was commissioned in 1734 by the Prince of Orange. The mill was leased to the miller who offered the most. It was called the ‘compulsive mill’, because all local farmers were obliged to use d'Orangemolen for grinding their grain.

During the liberation in 1945 after World War II, the mill was damaged and subsequently restored several times. Nowadays the mill - with a white plastered rain side - is privately owned, but is still fully operational.

Un moulin en activité depuis le XVIIIe siècle
Érigé en 1744, le Moulin à Vent du Cotentin est une véritable prouesse d’ingénierie : sa toiture pivote à 360° pour capter au mieux le vent. Après plus d’un siècle d’activité, il a dû s’incliner face aux minoteries modernes en 1848… Mais son histoire ne s’est pas arrêtée là !
Restauré avec passion en 1997, il a retrouvé son souffle et fait revivre un savoir-faire ancestral, grâce aux soutiens financiers du Conseil Général de la Manche, Créavenir, Agralco et de la Communauté de Communes de Portbail.

Aujourd’hui, géré par l’agglomération du Cotentin, c’est l’un des derniers moulins à vent en fonctionnement, produisant une authentique farine de meule de blé, de sarrasin et d’épeautre.
Accompagnés du meunier ou de la meunière, vous explorerez les trois niveaux de travail du moulin et assisterez à chaque étape du processus de fabrication.

Das Foto zeigt die Windmühle "Aarsdale Mølle" auf der dänischen Ostseeinsel Bornholm. Die Mühle wurde 1877 erbaut und ist seit Generationen ununterbrochen in Betrieb (bis 2003 wurde Korn gemahlen) und voll funktionstüchtig. Das nebenstehende Lagerhaus ist heute eine Granitwerkstatt mit Kunstgalerie und Café, Granit- und Bernsteinschmuck.

In the past, there were as many as 25 industrial mills in Weesp, which was a prosperous industrial town for centuries. Three mills remain. Two of them, De Eendragt and De Vriendschap, are located together on the banks of the river Vecht.

In the 17th century, De Eendragt (left) was a malt mill used to break grain for the brandy distillers, an important industry in Weesp. After this, it became a mill grinding shells into fine powder and in 1815 it became a wood sawmill. When this function ceased in 1932, the mill fell into disrepair. After a restoration in the 1970s, the mill is working again.

Traditional flour mill De Vriendschap (right) was built here in 1900, on the site of a 17th-century corn mill that was burned down. Nowadays the mill grinds a couple of times a week, when there is sufficient wind. The flour is for sale in the mill shop.

Wassermühle des Schlosses Rüppurr,
einst der Schlossanlage Rüppurr zugeordnet (siehe Molkerei Rastatter Straße 17), 1594 erstmals erwähnt, 1679 zwei Mahlmühlen und eine Gerberei, seit 1771 vermutlich Walk- und Hanfmühle, damals Umbau etwa zeitgleich mit dem Bau der darunter liegenden Brücke (identisches Steinmetzzeichen, vgl. Mühlwiesenweg), später Sägewerk, 1914 im Besitz der Stadt Karlsruhe (Modernisierung), von 1923 bis 1959 wieder Getreidemühle, jetzt Wohnnutzung, zugehöriger Mühlenkanal, Wehr in jüngster Zeit verändert, Teil der Mühle 2002/03 zu einer Wohnung umgebaut, hier Dach- und Fußbodenkonstruktion des späten 19.Jahrhundert.

Water mill of the Rüppurr castle,
once assigned to the Rüppurr castle complex (see dairy Rastatter Straße 17), first mentioned in 1594, in 1679 it had two grinding mills and a tanning mill, since 1771 it has probably been a fulling and hemp mill, at that time renovations were made around the same time as the construction of the bridge below (identical Stonemason's mark, cf. Mühlwiesenweg), later sawmill, owned by the city of Karlsruhe in 1914 (modernization), grain mill again from 1923 to 1959, now residential use, associated mill canal, weir recently changed, part of the mill converted into an apartment in 2002/03, here roof and floor construction of the late 19th century.

Das ist ein Bild aus dem 2o15, es ist eine Studie über Windmühlen in Sizilien, an der ich viel Freude hatte. Die Bilder habe ich gestern aus den RAW-Dateien entwickelt und mit dem Bildbetrachter/Bearbeiter von W1o entwickelt.
Für die Menschen, die Freude an Fotografie haben. :-)

I really enjoyed this photos from 2015, which is a study of windmills in Sicily. I developed the images yesterday from the RAW files and processed them using the W1o image viewer/editor.
