This was shot around 1 am in the morning. As there where still cars moving about there is some unusual lighting in the shot . Brake lights they have a great intensity I thought i had reshot them and removed it all but there is still evidence of it.
On the drive up we drove over( between the wheels) an echidna. the shot below was from the car head lights as we turned back to look at it as neither of us have ever seen one before. We waited for it to uncurl but it never did se we left it in peace to finish walking over the road.
I have cropped the shot.

This was a trial weekend with my brand new Night lens Samyang XP F2.4 14mm.

This was the main reason for the trip to light the cave area and have the milky way above. Easy you would think, we both had our lights so it was try each to see what would work and give us the result. This is 5 tries to light the cave area and get a pleasing result. This kind of shows how the magic of the first shot took place. I set up on the edge of the pit to get the whole of the milky way in the shot.

This is a shot made up of 8 Vertical shots. Sadly the light died on us not long after this shot so there was no second chance and trying any thing else. I like this shot my shot of the weekend.

Was it worth it, you seeing the shot we had in our minds and it all the work, you bet perfectly. it was a long drive over the weekend 1000Km in total and two night sleeping on the ground in the bush.

The biggest bug was the moon not ideal but it was there the whole night so it was blow it up or just go with it. This shot and others in the night show up the shower of meteors that was happening.
I had them sit still till I was finished them, they could move on the wooden platform. Once I finished I sat down with them and showed them parts of the sky /milky way and answered there question.

You will note a little left over light from sunset as we went out at 7pm.
This is about 200 degrees of view of the night sky Esperance is the far right. Seemed to have caught an Asteroid shower as they are in all 4 Shots of the area. The real sad part is when I removed the lens next morning I noted the depth of Field ring had come loose from the focusing ring, don't look as critically as I do, super glued back in place at the right place.

This is a two row Bow all taken by my computer , " Human Brain" first row horizontal to get the waves and the ground and second row tilted up above the bow. Head leveled, in Camera Leveled. All planes removed

At this point every body had "turned in" but the sounds of the Astro tents flapped and made noise to match a harbour full of yachts that did not take down there sails or tethered them in the strong winds. The noise was deafening from the three astro tents as the winds increased through the night.

This is very much how I use to view the stars as a kid in the Islands but here you can still see "Perth" in the distance.

After this I went to "bed" but was woken by crashings about me my hide was still sound but I was not going outside you got blown away.

In the morning one tent frame was crushed by the wind pole fell on a cable to the mount and cut it. The other tent next to me was the crash the pole fell on the mount and jammed it from moving. What I did see at 2 am in the morning

a href="https://www.ipernity.com/doc/1073393/49755956">

I could clearly see the Octans high in the sky with out any extra equipment they where that vivid. once you have spent your night looking for then on a computer you can not ever miss that shape of the bowel.

In the morning I packed it up as I saw the Wind forcast had changed to 15 Knots no point being here better to go home.

As this was a wheat farm all my equipment and car had to be cleaned of the straw blown about in the winds. It was in everything including the Telescope. It was rather interesting my car is not small but a large SUV it was blown about on the road as you came out of the trees to open farmland.

It will be a while before I go back. I did not sleep much so got up early and walked the farm in the early morning light... these will follow.

I wanted to sit at the computer and listen to music and do something different so I put together and edited the photo I had left behind.

We went to the Lancelin sand Dunes a Huge area. I was very reticent to go as I had the mount shooting the Helix nebula and the focus was not working as well as I would have liked. I did a dummy run of focus it worked so I let nina start it self at 9pm to start the night and night 3 saturday. You can see the position of the Helix nebula on the Milky way close to the planet Saturn.

we drove into the dune in a 4x4 and first dune we got bogged in the soft powdered sand way down the end of the valley near the three white tops(exit of the dunes safety light). We got out by the use of tryer boards under the wheel. we arrived at this spot and the three of us started shooting. this was the very end of the night I walked into the "valley" right up close to the dunes to try and cover the lights from the small hamlet of lancelin ( left side).

the dune to my left shoulder is bigger than a house you get no usable scale in the black of night. The Milky way was getting smaller and lower so I walked down the dune into the valley. we left a 3 am I got in the house at 4:30 am just in time to turn off the alarm then crawled into bed. It was a very cold night lots of layers on again.
technically might be the first photo taken on the 19th only New Zealand is much ahead of australia.
When things are not quite right it's best to leave home. I have had this set of rocks book marked for at least 5 year but my first visit. A little bit of moonlight,
Carl Reid and I enjoyed the Cool of 6c under western skies out in the cold and under a crescent moon.. those Rocks are coloured by the moon.
This will not be the last but it will require a full walk around to see the whole site. I thank the truck diver that I allowed to overtake me so I could use his head lights so we got home much earlier than expected Through the Mount Dale area......... Roos.
Enjoy the DARK Western Australian skies. On a night when I took 10 bows I went for my fav at the end of the night, in front of the Rocks. That rock is higher than a house Carl was way around to the right and as my battery for the lens heater died this was the last panorama I took.

</media:text>
David is like Me shooting middle of shot, Carl is walking down from the car follow the headlight he is wearing further to the right. Have you met Carl and David before
The sky was black but for the lights of the small town out in the wheat field area. in this shot is the lights of the town of Northham. The dead trees at the edge of the road was out main target with the Milky way behind.

The Emu is well over the shot...for those that cant see it see below...
It was very cold and I got to 7 layers of clothing the temp dropped to 5c and it also was dew fall that can cause a very bad dew on the lens. I got home finally at 1:45 am and jumped into bed.
They where there a very long time.
