Another capture from this loch, concentrating on this trio of nearby trees. I liked the foreground one standing out from the far mountain and water with this very healthy foliage. The ones to the right are displaying their new growth of springtime leaf.

Whitecraigs railway station is a railway station serving the Whitecraigs and Davieland areas of the towns of Giffnock and Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire, Greater Glasgow, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and lies on the Neilston branch of the Cathcart Circle 6+3⁄4 miles (10.9 km) southwest of Glasgow Central. The line here forms the boundary which separates Newton Mearns and Giffnock across Ayr Road.

One cannot imagine ‘The Small Isle’s in the Inner Hebrides being quite like this. High rugged peaks and green forest. I am on a small valley trail here which if followed entirely would lead to the top of those peaks, but not for me this time. Fortunately, someone has given some thoughts to the hiker here by providing a place of rest to admire the stunning Rum scenery.

We walked along this Loch side many years ago in rain and very grey weather. It seemed a miserable broody stretch of water then but what a difference today. This is one of a number of piers along its 18.8 km (11.7 miles) length and this photo belies its incredible depth of 310 m (1017 ft) making it the deepest in the UK and 17th deepest in the word. It has a surface area of 26.7 sq km (10.3 miles). (The deepest Sea loch is Loch Etive which is only 145 m deep (176ft).
Although there are some boats moored here, in the hours walking I only saw one moving across the water. See PiP for Loch church
