Il y a plein de "Plus beaux villages de France", mais pour moi, Rochefort-en-Terre est vraiment l'un des plus beaux. C'est comme un voyage dans le temps, avec ses ruelles pavées, maisons à encorbellement, enseignes stylisées, et partout les fleurs soulignant la pierre - chaque détail est soigné ici.

A LITTLE GEM NESTLED IN THE HEART OF MORBIHAN. There are plenty of ‘Most Beautiful Villages in France’, but for me, Rochefort-en-Terre is truly one of the most beautiful. It’s like stepping back in time, with its cobbled streets, corbelled houses, stylised shop signs, and flowers everywhere setting off the stonework – every detail is carefully tended to here.

EIN KLEINES JUWEL IM HERZEN DES MORBIHAN. Es gibt zwar viele "schönste Dörfer Frankreichs", aber für mich ist Rochefort-en-Terre wirklich eines der schönsten. Mit seinen gepflasterten Gassen, den Erkerhäusern, den stilvollen Nasenschildern und den Blumen, die überall das Mauerwerk hervorheben, ist es wie eine Reise in die Vergangenheit – hier ist jedes Detail sorgfältig gepflegt.

Bailly Castle dates back to the 15th century. It was built around 1470 for René de la Chapelle, surrounded by a moat, gardens and defensive towers. It was subsequently altered around 1660 and finally partially rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style in the 19th century.

It is situated on the banks of the Erve, near the idyllic spot by the water’s edge. There are actually two wash houses, one on each bank.

LE BANC DU VIEUX LAVOIR se trouve au bord de l'Erve, près du coin idyllique au bord de l'eau. En fait, il y a deux lavoirs, un à chaque rive.

I asked Google to translate the meaning of the banners, and this is what it gave. I have no way of knowing if it got it right though, so if anyone reads Japanese script I would love to know if the translation is correct.

FROM GOOGLE: "The red banners (called nobori) represent prayers and gratitude dedicated to specific Shinto deities.

Left Banners (Dark Red)
• 奉納 (Hōnō): The top two horizontal/vertical characters mean "Dedication" or "Offering." This indicates the banner was donated to the shrine by a worshiper.
• 大黒天 (Daikokuten): The banner further back names Daikokuten, the god of wealth, commerce, and agriculture.
