GWR liveried Scammell "Scarab" or "mechanical horse". These little three wheel vehicles were used for local deliveries, replacing the ton and quarter-toner horse-drawn parcel vans. These little units were capable of hauling three or six ton trailers, depending on the engine version.

At the head of train is "Mark Timothy" - the 1993 2-4-6T (converted to coal-firing, during rebuilding in 2003).
Madder Lake livery and built-in headlamp.

Tilted fences ... I think of these as the Midland or LMS design, and now HFF !

I don't know too much about this bus, other than that it appears to be operated by the Swiss postal service. It's a passenger bus, in spite of the operator, so it must be fairly unusual in today's world. Obviously, in the 18th and 19th Centuries it was possible to ride on mail coaches, but to see modern-day motorcoaches hauling primarily passengers would have to be unusual. Does anybody know much about these? The station I photographed this one in is adjacent to the Chur trains station, so close, in fact, that it's almost the same facility (and perhaps could be considered such).

This is Rhaetian Railway #3505, one of the newer trains on the Bernina Express (and the Bernina Line generally), a Class ABe 8/12 Allegra EMU, built by Stadler Rail sometime between 2009 and 2011. These units were among those which replaced the ABe 4/4 II Class EMU's that had been in service when I rode the line in 1998. The Class ABe 4/4 III EMU's remain in service, being newer. There are also a few locomotive-hauled trains, using Gem 4/4 dual power locomotives (electric or diesel). This photo gives a hint, but doesn't show clearly that the Bernina Line leaves Chur via the streets, much like a tramway.

This is a BVZ Tram 2000 Class. This one appears to carry road number #2109. Other than that, I haven't been able to track down easy information on this class.

Zurich (sometimes spelled "Zuerich")actually isn't the capital of Switzerland (Bern is) but it is the largest city, creating some confusion. There is an extensive tram system here, and the trams are varied in age and technological advancement. This tram appears to be a Bombardier Be 5/6 Cobra of the Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich (VZB), one of three tram operators, and the one that is owned by the city. Cobras were originally built by Schindler, being designed in 1996. There were years of production delays before Schindler was reorganized in 2001 and Cobra production was shifted to Bombardier. The order eventually grew to 88 units, which should all be delivered by now (I don't have a current roster). These are modern low-floor trams designed for easier handicap access, but other than that I've had a bit of trouble tracking down technical specifications.

This was after our arrival on the CityNightLine service in Praha Hlavni Nadrazi. Our sleeper was a first class one, operated by JLV, making it actually the only Czech sleeper on the train, as the rest were DB (and possibly SBB, I don't remember). The train was heavy enough to be double headed, although as usual it ran under 160Km/h (99 m.p.h.) on Ceske Drahy. The trailing unit was #371015-9. I noted that both units were named. #371004-3 was named "Otik," and #371015-9 had a common Czech woman's name, although I've forgotten it. Does anybody know it?
