Located in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire on the border between England and Wales, the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail is a free woodland exhibition.

One of the large artworks is this creation of suspended plastic bottles, each with a small amount of colour at its base.

Kasteel Doornenburg is een Nederlands kasteel uit de 14e eeuw.

Het kasteel ligt in het oosten van de Betuwe en centraal in Gelderland, nabij het dorp Doornenburg. Het bestaat uit een voorburcht en een hoofdburcht, die zijn verbonden door een smalle houten brug. Het is een van de grootste kastelen in Nederland.

Op de plaats van het kasteel bevond zich in de 9e eeuw al een versterkt huis, bekend onder de naam Villa Dorenburc. Hieruit is in de 13e eeuw een bescheiden kasteel ontstaan. De huidige hoofdburcht werd in de 14e eeuw gebouwd en in de 15e eeuw voltooid. In de 15e eeuw werd de voorburcht gebouwd. De voorburcht bevat woonvertrekken, een kapel, en een boerderij. Zelfs de ingrijpende reconstructie uit begin 20e eeuw in het achterhoofd houdende, is dit een van de best bewaarde en meest oorspronkelijke middeleeuwse voorburchten van Nederland en omstreken.

Kasteel Doornenburg bleef tot in de 19e eeuw bewoond. Daarna raakte het in verval. In 1936 werd de Stichting tot Behoud van den Doornenburg opgericht, die het kasteel vanaf 1937 liet restaureren en de ommuring van de voorburcht deels reconstrueren waar deze in de loop der eeuwen was verdwenen. In 1941 was de restauratie voltooid.

Aan het eind van de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd de donjon vrijwel geheel verwoest. Lange tijd werd gedacht dat het was opgeblazen door de Duitsers, maar het bleek in maart 1945 te zijn getroffen door een Brits bombardement. Van 1947 tot 1968 is het kasteel weer geheel opgebouwd. Alhoewel de voorburcht belangrijke middeleeuwse resten bevat, dateert slechts een deel van de kelder van de donjon van voor 1947.

Sommes nous aussi surveillés, par des regards de nuages,
j'ai du regarder à deux fois lorsque j'ai mis cette vue à l'écran
l'ayant prise juste par curiosité pour cette imposante masse
en formation au-dessus de ma tête en rentrant de ma sortie photos.. (naturellement je ne voyais pas ce détail (visage) nous regardant dans cette longue trainée nuageuse, avant un orage en soirée du coté de l'Allemagne.)

The iconic Grassington Mine Chimney, standing 18 meters high on Grassington Moor, is a prominent 1849 landmark of the Yorkshire Dales' lead mining history. Located near the Cupola Smelt Mill, it is connected to a 1.7 km long, mostly underground, horizontal flue system designed to condense and catch valuable lead particles from poisonous smelting fumes.

Lors d'une récente visite !L’histoire des mines dites « de Sain-Bel » dont l’exploitation se trouve sur les communes de Saint-Pierre-la-Palud et Sourcieux-les-Mines, remonte loin dans le temps ! On parle parfois d’anciens travaux gaulois ou romains, mais on ne connaît rien de précis avant le XVe siècle, à l’époque de Jacques Cœur, argentier du roi Charles VII.
