The founding of the original three museums dates back to the citizens of the city and to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who stayed in Wiesbaden in 1814/1815 and persuaded two Frankfurt collectors to donate their extensive collections of artworks and antiques to the Duchy of Nassau in exchange for the payment of a lifelong pension.

Through acquisitions, donations, and loans, the museum's art collection has become one of the most important in Germany, particularly in the area of 19th and 20th century art.

Art here goes far beyond the classic concept of “fine art”; for example, there is a collection of vases from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Mainz was founded around 20 BC by the Romans under the name “Mogontiacum” as a military camp. Today's capital of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate forms a metropolitan area with Wiesbaden, the neighboring capital of Hesse, with a combined population of around 500,000.

The "Republic of Mainz", a product of the French Revolution, was the first democratic state on German territory. The state was represented in Paris by the well-known naturalist Georg Forster, who had been in the Pacific with Captain Cook as a boy. The Mainz Republic ended after only five months in July 1793 following the conquest of the city by Prussian and Austrian troops. Georg Forster died in Paris in 1794.

The State Museum is one of the oldest museums in Germany. Its origins lie in a collection of 36 paintings that Napoleon gifted to the city of Mainz in 1803 to establish an art gallery.

Tpday the Landesmuseum has extensive art and cultural history collections, ranging from prehistory to modern art.

The railway town, or perhaps village is more accurate, of Melton Constable in Norfolk lost most of it's importance with the closure of much of the former Midland & Great Northern Railway from 28 February 1959, closing completely five years later.

The Railway Institute was built in 1896, and extended in 1912, by the railway for the benefit of its workers as reading rooms, wash rooms and general recreation until the closure of the railway works in the early 1960’s. At that point a group of local people (and by then) ex-employees banded together and bought the freehold of the Railway Institute from the British Railways board, and formed a trust under the name of the Country Club that endures to this day.

Paris is the capital and largest city of France, with over 2 million inhabitants and more than 13 million in the greater metropolitan area.

La Samaritaine has been a Parisian department store since 1869.

Since 2001, it has been owned by the luxury goods group LVMH.
La Samaritaine was closed in 2005 due to fire safety regulations and subsequently renovated. It reopened in 2021.

A lot of detail to like in the boys entrance to this former school on Great Moor Street in Bolton. The fencing and the arc in the wall top on the right are wonderful. The County Grammar School was built in 1897 and is listed Grade II including the gates and fencing alongside.

Edward VII is referenced on this 1905 rainhead attached to the old post office building on Guildhall Street in Lincoln. The building is now a pub known as The Mailbox.

Das Winklerhaus ist eines der wenigen Jugendstilhäuser Innsbrucks. Die beiden Gebäudeteile bestehend aus einem Geschäftstrakt in der Leopoldstraße und einem Wohntrakt in der Maximilianstraße.Sie heben sich deutlich von der gesamten umliegenden Architektur ab. Der Innsbrucker Stadtapotheker Franz Winkler ließ 1873 das Gebäude auf seine heutige Höhe aufstocken. Sein Erbe, der Rechtsanwalt Josef Winkler engagierte den Münchner Architekten Anton Bachmann, um die klassizistische Fassade gegen die aktuelle Jugendstilfassade austauschen zu lassen.

The Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway provided extensive opportunities for eating and drinking at Manchester Victoria Station. The glazed brick and terracotta with mosaic decoration and lettering still invites customers to the restaurant and bar. It dates from 1909 and is listed Grade II.
