Mixed media, mostly from gelatin monoprints. From an on-line workshop by Carla Sonheim, last year. Not really satisfied, but what the hell. I have a lot more monoprints to work on really beastly political creatures, not on cute ones. The above is unfinished, but I don't know if I will complete the pages any time.

Here in the US twice a year we reset our clocks, in the spring one hour ahead to "better utilize the available daylight hours", in the very late fall back to standard time. A silly exercise, especially here in Alaska with 24 hours of daylight during the summer, -but none the less…

And… since I didn't follow the law (The Energy Policy Act of 2005) and set my clocks back last night I awoke at six a.m. and found it to really be 5 a.m!

Actually the sketch above is based on a true happening; Some years back a local bar owner on closing for the night told his mucker (guy that cleans up after closing): "Joe, remember to move the clock back tonight, because of the daylight savings time change." He meant, of course, for Joe to move/set the clock back one hour.

Well the next morning when he came in he found that Joe had done just like he'd told him to, he'd taken the clock down and put it back up, moving it five feet back down the bar! No, he hadn't changed the time.

Marker on 12 by 12 inch card stock.

A couple of days ago I took two of my visitors on a leisurely walk around my south 80 acres. In so far as it's been a rather rainy summer, there were lots and lots and LOTs of mosquitoes. The leisurely walk turned in to a bit of a rout. Our Alaskan mosquitoes really love Japanese fast food! :-)

So! I've been driving my friend from Japan in to town all week so she could take part in the gospel singing workshop put on (in February) by the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival group. Last night was the gospel song concert culminating the workshop. The concert ended with the singing a rousing rendition of The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Saturday I took my small Japanese tour group (four friends visiting from Japan) up to the west ridge to see an outdoor production of Shakespeare's 'Comedy of errors'.

I did most of this quick sketch of the audience and stage setting before the play started.
