Since redwoods can live more than 2000 years, I wonder what will become of them -- and enjoy a delicious apple brandy.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

Der amerikanische Apotheker Eugene Schieffelin liebte Shakespeare so sehr, dass er sich in den Kopf gesetzt hatte, alle Vogelarten nach Nordamerika zu bringen, die der Dichter in seinen Werken erwähnt hatte. Ein ehrgeiziges Ziel: In Shakespeares Gesamtwerk sind über 600 verschiedene Vogelarten zu finden. Schieffelin war Vorsitzender der American Acclimatization Society, einer Gesellschaft, die es sich zum Ziel gesetzt hatte, ausländische Tier- und Pflanzenarten aufzunehmen, die sie für "nützlich und interessant" befand.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Und so kam es, dass Schieffelin an einem schneereichen Tag im März 1890 sechzig aus England importierte Stare im New Yorker Central Park aussetzte.&lt;br /&gt;

"Inzwischen ist aus der Hundertschaft schätzungsweise ein Heer von 150 bis 200 Millionen geworden", sagt der Ornithologe Geoff LeBaron von der US-amerikanischen Umweltorganisation " National Audubon Society". &lt;br /&gt;

Oregon Trail&lt;br /&gt;
Ab den 1840er Jahren durchquerten Oregon-Pioniere den nördlichen Teil des Countys auf dem Oregon Trail , vom John Day River Crossing bis zur Mündung des Deschutes River. Einige Auswanderer, die die Barlow Road erreichen wollten, nahmen den Cut-Off zur Barlow Road. Der Cut-Off liegt ein kurzes Stück westlich des John Day River und führt südwestlich durch den Grass Valley Canyon ins heutige Grass Valley, hinunter zum Hollenbeck Point nach Buck Hollow und über den Deschutes River.&lt;br /&gt;
