37409 - Lord Hinton, at Whitehaven. About to set off southwards - in push mode - for Barrow.
One of the class 37s that provide the motive power for the push/pull loco-hauled sets. The bars over the windows are protecting passengers - there are some very narrow clearances on this route.
Have a very distinctive sound, detectable all the way across the marina.

Northern Rail EMU 323223 departs from Heald Green with 2A98 1346 local service from Manchester Piccadilly to Crewe. It got as far the next station at Manchester Airport, where it was cancelled due to a freight train having problems further up the line at Wilmslow.
