Sewn from a blouse that was too short, and a skirt that was too tight. Now it's comfortable and I think I like it better than either of the original pieces.

Made this tunic from some very old organza someone donated to the clothing swap last weekend in Marina del Rey. Wanted to use as much of it as possible, so I made a big lagenlook-style tunic. Used the scraps to make little yoyos for the trim, and added a lace doily I found thrifting this week. Just in time for a very hot weekend in LA! Worn over a Marc Ware jumper; headwrap from Dean Alan; Bobs shoes; earrings by Polkadot Creations.

I found this slip dress made of recycled silks, and loved the idea, but it wasn't quite the fit I needed... so I picked out the side seams and added a few rows of crochet. Now it's quite comfortable, and fun to wear too.

I crocheted this for myself this year, starting with the hat in March. No pattern, obviously! Just freeform and hyperbolic and some beading. There are starfish and sand dollars visible, the rest is more abstract...

Kids are the best hat designers. I told my daughter's friend I would make her any hat she could design. She handed me the sketch at left, and I made the hat as shown.

I made this dress from a thrifted bedsheet, and wore it to a spring brunch today. No pattern--front and back are identical, I made up something for the sleeves. The lace at the neckline is from my grandmother's stash of notions.
