We've been trying to catch our resident hedgehog, as we think s/he's limping a bit.
Instead, we've caught a small stoat ... the longish tail has a black tip. Probably a young female, as it is quite small - those wires are spaced about an inch apart.
S/he was released a few moments after these images were taken, and left at high speed !

The European stoat (Mustela erminea) is also known as the Eurasian ermine ...

A very healthy looking [young ?] fox checking out the food dish we've been leaving out for the garden's hedgehog. Not sure if male [dog] or female[vixen], more likely to be the former, given it is mid-July as the breeding vixens tend to stay in or close to their dens at this time of the breeding season.

Chunky hedgepig found at home - I think the wind shut the door behind her/him, as we found him in the outhouse. There had been food in the outhouse already and s/he was waiting to be let out !
methinks this is our regular visitor as s/he seemed not overly scared of us - more annoyed at being shut in for a few hours. Ate some more food and skedaddled sharpish !

Despite looking soft, furry and cute they are often regarded as an agricultural / garden pest, especially when introduced to areas without sufficient natural predators - although domesticated "fancy" breeds are widely kept as pets. Humans have exploited rabbits for centuries for both meat and pelts.
In the wild, despite being highly fecund they are controlled by stoats, foxes and birds of prey in open country. Additionally, factors such as myxomatosis or rabbit haemorrhagic disease also control the population, despite the level of developing immunity, especially to myxomatosis [which is a horrible way to die].

Sparrowhawk having a breather on top of the bird table / feeder.

We had a surprise visitor - a Sparrowhawk. (Accipiter nisus)
From the size & colouring, I suspect that this is a male. He perched on the birdtable roof, but stayed only a few minutes before flying off at some speed. I managed to get just a few images ...
