Note the use of very large stones to keep the structure stable. Also note that the wall is not capped by coping stones, as it is still being used as a clearance or consumption wall, ie one built of stones cleared from the enclosed fields. The gateway and the track / footpath I am standing on are covered in cobbles - medium sized stones - used to reinforce the surface in wet weather, especially as this is a well-walked route.

I would like to have added a little more height, but I was running out of suitable stones. I had to be parsimonious with the "throughs" in order to have enough "copes" [the top ones] and even then I had to lay them over a bit to manage to deal with the full length of this section. Probably my inexperience as this is the first wall I've built with these methods & materials.

The area immediately adjacent on the far side of the wall, is a "wetland" / boggy area with a small pond. Although the grass has been cut, I have yet to trim the edge by the wall and the whole area is still in "winter mode".
