Mailbox at the Belize cruise port. British design, because Belize was once part of the Empire.

(Wish that the gift shoppe had been open, I could have addressed a card to myself. Always interesting to see what the postal system looks like in other countries.)

During my recent time away, I went for a trip on the Hawkesbury River (near Sydney) with the "Riverboat Postman". This is Australia's last operating mail boat service, travelling about 40 km through a rugged landscape which largely is National Park with isolated small settlements, all lacking road access. As with the far larger Hurtigruten tours in Norway, this postal service also carries a small number of passengers for a well described tour, with lunch provided. That's the boat on the right of the main image and in PiP 1, with the boat's skipper (and tour narrator) in PiP 2. Luckily the weather improved as the tour began.

A souvenir envelope organised by the Alice Springs Stamp Club to celebrate the 50th anniversary run of the Commonwealth Railway's Ghan Train. I bought a few of these on the train as it approached Alice Springs. Dept Pt Augusta on std gauge on Monday early afternoon 2ish, around midnight transfer to the 3'6" gauge train at Maree (gauge transfers, a great Australian tradition) and arrive 3-4 hours late on the Wednesday morning 11ish.

Red "Pillar Box" in the Market Place at Whitehaven.
The cast monogram is George VI who reigned between December 1936 and his death in February 1952.
Note Also the cast "Post Office" who dealt with the Royal Mails until the idiotic partial privatisation in 2013, the government sold off the remaining 30% stake in 2015, which ended 499 years of public ownership.

So, someone has a sense of humour, as DM lived under a Post Box "somewhere in London" ...

"Danger Mouse" had two incarnations, I prefer the 1981 version.
