Evershot Parish Council began building the village hall in 1919 but it was not completed until 1921.In 1939, the hall was commandeered by the British Army who subsequently returned it after the war. It is now administered by a local charity which maintains the hall for use by the local parish community.

The Florence ironstone mine near Egremont continued in use until 2008. It was the last working deep iron ore mine left in Western Europe and produced ore, products for the cosmetics industry and high quality haematite for jewellery. Production ended when BNFL ended the contract for the mine to supply water and the cost of pumping rendered the mine uneconomic.

A flavour of the light railways used in World War 1 at the Pages Park shed on the Leighton Buzzard Light Railway. On the left is War Department Light Railways 303 - Hunslet 1215 of 1916. On the right is Baldwin built British War Department locomotive 778. Built in 1917 this locomotive is one of four survivors in the UK of the total of 495 delivered by Baldwin.

This is one of the last remaining corrugated iron boathouses on the Macclesfield Canal. These structures were common from the small skiff type of the early 20th century to the ones that held cabin cruisers in later years. The last ones are to be seen on the High Lane Arm which is leased to the North Cheshire Cruising Club. They are disappearing because they are too small to accommodate the modern steel narrowboats that are in the majority today.

Copper Mine

Anglesey Mining appears to be mainly involved in iron ore mining in Canada, however the company also owns the mine at Parys Mountain on Anglesey where perhaps one day exploration for copper ore will recommence. For the time being the headgear stands without ropes.

This corrugated iron house was built by contractors Wills & Reeve to house workers on the construction of Immingham Dock which began in 1906. This example was eventually removed to the Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum where it now houses the transport toy exhibits.

All vehicles to report to this office before unloading. Goods in reception at the closed Thomas Bolton copper foundry at Froghall. This has now been cleared away apart from the chimney.

I spotted this Nissen alongside the canal close to Keadby power station. Tremendous rust. I suspect this is being used as a store for a rowing club.

An empty house at Andamooka which is an opal mining town north of Roxby Downs in outback South Australia. Many of the houses here are partly underground due to the fierce heat in summer.

Draycott tin church

One source suggests that St Augustine's, Draycott in the Clay, Staffordshire, was formed as a mission church in Hanbury parish from 1922. It has been lined out with highly polished wooden wall panels and has full heating. The bell cote was removed a few years ago and has been replaced in wood although the pinnacle and cross seem to be original.

Corrugated iron extension to the factory of Numold (UK) Ltd at Gloucester. The business designs and make moulds for concrete castings. I suspect that this extension was used as a drawing/design office as it has a wall of windows to allow as much light in as possible. The building seemed to be out of use.
