Presumably, this needs more than a new muffler. ;-p When I was two years old, this was a new pickup! It has a lot of big holes drilled around the walls of the bed and around the grille. Would that be to reduce the weight? I've never seen anything like that.

Regarding the image; In order to "fudge" the crowding at the front of the truck's image, I added some stuff for breathing space. This is an example of the difficulty I have taking pictures with poor eyesight,now. I didn't see that the image wasn't properly in the frame. So, I could go back and do it again tomorrow, or just add something called a mirror frame and call it a day. ;-)

Wood chips from various tree trimming and landscaping projects, including private citizens, are ground into smaller fiber for gardening use. The public can load up on this end-product free of charge.

An entertaining side effect, at least for people like me who occasionally drive through the area just for fun, are the many goose nests on top of the soft mounds of mulch They have Lake Ewauna and a small pond on the other side of this property, so it's prime nesting/hatching area for the Canada geese of the town.

</media:text>

In consultation with Jean Paul Capdeville, I think this is a Fordson. From Wikipedia:

"The first prototypes of the new Henry Ford & Son tractor, which would later be called the Fordson, were completed in 1916. World War I was raging in Europe, and the United Kingdom, a net importer of food, was desperate for tractors in its attempt to expand its agriculture enough to feed Britain despite the great shipping disruption of the war. In 1917, the British Ministry of Munitions selected the Fordson for both importation from the U.S. and domestic U.K. production. It was thought that domestic U.K. production was preferable because so much Atlantic shipping was being sunk that exporting tractors from the U.S. would be counterproductive, as many would be lost at sea." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fordson The Fordson name was dropped in 1964 and the name in both the US and UK became Ford.

It's also a men on machines photo for the VPTP monthly free-for-all topic (submit as many vintage photos on any topic as you'd like).

The photo shows a couple of guys posing on top of a steam engine while a fellow down below—with his sleeves rolled up and a shovel in his hands—does the dirty work.

It looks the steam engine is in working order—there's a belt around the flywheel on the other side—but the boiler obviously isn't hot enough to prevent the guys from positioning themselves above it.
