In August 2020, our chalk walkway was based on a self-portrait by Clémentine-Hélène Dufau. Gave her some details that weren't in the original portrait--a letter in her hand, some tiles on the floor...

OK, in my humble opinion (OK, OK, in my rather pompous opinion -grin-) there can be no plagiarism in art. We all build upon those that went before us, learn from those around us and create based upon whatever we see and feel.

OK, having said that I was just over on HelenaPF's page delighted by her 'La nécropole de la nostalgie' and listing to YANNI's 'Prelude and Nostalgia' on you tube.

Subsequently, I had to get this simple image out of my head and on paper, titling it reminiscence, a synonym of nostalgia.

Chalk pastels on black card stock, 8 1/2 by 11 inches (21 by 28 cm).

It's a dull, overcast, day up here on top of the world. The snow is mostly melted puddles.

The deciduous trees are stark and bare, but if you look closely, you see the leaf buds are swollen, ready to burst. You can almost hear the sap flowing up from the roots pressuring the leaves to burst free.

OK, on or about 12 November Edwina Mordasky posted here (Now there) on flickr her rendering, 'A Diary of Faces No2 Grigorescu' (www.flickr.com/photos/ejmordasky/8178951316/in/photostream) after a portrait by Nicolae Grigorescu.

Upon seeing her work I commented: "Excellent, Winna! When I first looked at this I had a very strong urge to do an 'after Winna' 'after Grigorescu' with pastels. ;-)"

So! After cogitating contrasting and procrastinating I got around to doing this tonight.

Hence P.O.W. (Portrait of a Woman) after Mordasky after Grigorescu. Mine is rather roughly based on his painting 'Head of a Woman' from Wikimedia Commons according to Art Cyclopedia (www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/grigorescu_nicolae.html)

Soft pastels on cheap construction paper, approximately 9 by 11 inches.
