Es lohnt sich immer mal,eine Blüte auch im Zentrum anzuschauen,wie hier von den Wiesenstorchschnabel (Geranium pratense) :))

Il est toujours intéressant d'observer de plus près le cœur d'une fleur, comme celle-ci, celle du géranium des prés (Geranium pratense) :))

Aren't the flower clusters pretty? They are about 25mm across and, unfortunately, are found on a plant which is a particularly invasive weed in east coastal areas of Australia (declared as a Weed of National Significance). It grows into dense impenetrable thickets of prickly shrubs up to 4 M tall. Originally from the tropical Americas, it was introduced in 1841 for its flowers, but was already becoming a pest by the 1860s. The PiP shows a thicket of this weed.

The name "Trigger Plant" is the broad common name for some 300 plants of the Stylidium genus, almost all Australian natives. This was growing locally in the wild. The stem was about 40cm tall and the flowers are about 2 cm across. The name of these plants arises from the "Trigger" (see notes), a modified fifth petal which springs into action when a pollinator insect lands, grabbing the insect and wiping pollen over it before releasing. Apparently though, some species of these plants are actually carnivorous and digest the insects. More about them here.
