Kinver Edge is a high sandstone ridge and hill fort which overlooks the dramatic red sandstone rock houses.

These homes were carved into friable Permian-aged dune sandstone probably in the 17-18th century. The restored Holy Austin houses are now owned by the National Trust & show how life was lived in the rock until the 1960s. With a tea room on top it's a great place to sit and admire the view.

From a tree that was cut down recently as it had its trunk over the fence in the Intermediate School yard and most of its branches in ours. The school boys used to climb it.

....der ehemaligen Altonaer Hafenbahn ist schon lange nicht mehr in Betrieb, das ganze Gelände davor heute komplett eingezäunt und leider auch von der Straße/ Brücke aus nichtzu sehen.
Auf Umwegen habe ich mich dennoch dem Tunneleingang genähert. Aber das ist erstens verboten (siehe PiP 1) und zweitens ist es mit schwieriger Kletterei verbunden -also nicht nachmachen!
Der knapp einen Kilometer lange Tunnel verband einst den Bahnhof Altona mit dem Altonaer Fischereihafen. Heute steht das Bauwerk unter Denkmalschutz.
1876 wurde die oberirdische Steil-Strecke in einen Tunnel unter der Palmaille durch zum Bahnhof gelegt. Seit 1889 nannte man ihn Schellfischtunnel, weil überwiegend diese Fischart an die Räuchereien in Ottensen geliefert wurde.
Der reguläre Güterverkehr durch den Schellfischtunnel wurde 1989 eingestellt, die allerletzten Sonderfahrten endeten im Sommer 1992. Im September 1992 wurden die Portale verschlossen und 1993 die Anlage offiziell stillgelegt.

You might find that the water drops on the window spoil the view, but to me they are as beautiful as the view itself.
