The surviving gasholder at Great Yarmouth was built in 1884 to the design of the consulting engineer Robert P Spice of London for the Great Yarmouth Gas Company.

National Grid has a national programme agreed with OFGEM to bring redundant sites such as these back into use, but the Grade II Listed status of the Victorian gasholder and its condition requires a different approach. Following detailed technical assessments it was agreed that the tank at the bottom of the gasholder should be removed and the large visible frame should then be refurbished in-situ. Work was due to start at the end of 2025.

The railway town, or perhaps village is more accurate, of Melton Constable in Norfolk lost most of it's importance with the closure of much of the former Midland & Great Northern Railway from 28 February 1959, closing completely five years later.

The Railway Institute was built in 1896, and extended in 1912, by the railway for the benefit of its workers as reading rooms, wash rooms and general recreation until the closure of the railway works in the early 1960’s. At that point a group of local people (and by then) ex-employees banded together and bought the freehold of the Railway Institute from the British Railways board, and formed a trust under the name of the Country Club that endures to this day.

Dome and lantern on Tudor Hall in Rose Lane, Norwich. This building was designed as Boulton and Paul's headquarters and showroom by Thomas Plaford who was their in-house architect and designed many of their prefabricated buildings. It was built 1898-1900 and incorporates features from early Norwich houses: a doorway, window, roof timbers and a moulded ceiling. It is listed Grade II.

Terracotta build date on the Simms Reeve intitute at Brancaster. The building is named after the man who was Lord of the Manor in the later years of the nineteenth century.

Actually this is a GROYNE. A groyne is an active structure extending from the shore into the sea, most often perpendicular or slightly oblique to the shoreline. The main function of a groyne is catching and trapping part of the sediment moving in a longshore direction in the surf zone. This groyne is catching flint pebbles and quite large pieces of flint in chalk. Some of the wood lower down is heavily weathered, and the construction bolts are very rusty.

Port and Haven Commissioners' Offices, 21 South Quay, Great Yarmouth. Built in 1909 by Olly and Haward. The apex of the gable contains a carving of a steamship and building date. The building is listed Grade II.

The Windmill Theatre in Great Yarmouth is today one of Britain's earliest surviving Cine Variety buildings. Designed by local architect Arthur S. Hewitt, the Gem opened on the 4th of July 1908 under the lessees the Yarmouth Amusement Centre Ltd, showing continuous 'Electric Vaudeville' all day long from 11am to 11pm at prices of 2, 4, and 6 pence per person, with shows lasting around an hour each. Notices outside the building read 'come in when you like, stay as long as you like'. The films were accompanied by a young lady at the piano, interspersed with songs from a lady vocalist, and occasional gramophone records. Three bioscope operators and three pianists were employed to be able to cope with the twelve hour long continuous programming.

The Gem's interior was a simple hall 160 feet long by 40 feet wide with no stage and the cinema screen fixed to the back wall. There was no balcony and seating was on simple wooden chairs for around 700 people. Local by-laws prevented men and women sitting together under the proviso that it was immoral for men and women to sit together in a darkened hall so men sat on one side of the central aisle, and women on the other.

In the following years a stage and balcony were added and it became the Gem Palace showing films, and with live variety shows on its new stage. A sound system was added in 1930.

After closure during the war it reopened in 1946 as the Windmill Theatre and was soon providing the number two variety bills and popular summer shows in Great Yarmouth, a policy which continued well into the 1960s. It then saw use for a range of activities and exhibitions but is now closed. It is listed Grade II.

Caister Road bus depot

The Great Yarmouth bus depot was built for trams by Boulton and Paul of Norwich and was opened in 1898. It was severely damaged by bombing during WWII and reconstructed by 1947 apart from the façade, in an art-deco style with panels showing transport through the ages, which was constructed by F. R. Hipperson and Son Ltd in 1948.
