Bei Hetlingen queren zwei Hochspannungsleitungen die Elbe (Elbekreuzung 1 und Elbekreuzung 2). Die Strommasten sind mit 227 m Höhe die höchsten Europas. Weil die Stromkabel wegen der Streckenlänge (die Elbe ist hier 2 km breit) stark durchhängen und große Schiffe die Elbe passieren, mussten die Masten so außerordentlich hoch gebaut werden. Northern Power Station was located at Port Paterson in the Australian state of South Australia about 6 kilometres south of Port Augusta. It was coal powered with two 260 MW steam turbines that generated a total of 520 MW of electricity. It was operated and maintained by Alinta Energy and was commissioned in 1985. The plant ceased electricity production in May 2016 and was decommissioned and demolished over the following few years. Also closed at that time were the nearby Playford B Power Station, and the Leigh Creek coal mine, 280 km to the north, that supplied them both with fuel.

It was a very dark, rainy morning. Three Cooper's hawks, presumably and adult and two juveniles, were making lots of noise, flying between trees and electrical poles.

High-voltage pylon at the Lünerseewerk (Latschau power plant) in Tschagguns (Montafon, Austria). At the time of its completion (1958), it was the most powerful pumped storage power plant in the world. Every day there are about 40 changes between pumping and turbine operation to buffer peak loads in the European electricity grid or to absorb surplus electricity from wind power or solar plants. The control capacity is a good 370 GWh.

Hochspannungsmast am Lünerseewerk (Latschaukraftwerk) in Tschagguns (Montafon, Österreich). Es war zur Zeit seiner Fertigstellung (1958) das leistungsstärkste Pumpspeicherkraftwerk der Welt. Täglich finden ca. 40 Wechsel zwischen Pump- und Turbinenbetrieb statt, um Lastspitzen im europäischen Stromnetz abzupuffern, oder überschüssigen Strom von Windkraft- oder Solaranlagen aufzunehmen. Das Regelarbeitsvermögen beträgt gut 370 GWh.
