This technically imperfect aircraft from a bridge camera pushed well into digital zoom speaks of the joy of seeing aircraft back in the sky over London as traffic increases and aviation makes clear its intent to survive.

Emirates has made one of the boldest statements by returning its A380s to the skies. This is an evening arrival approaching Heathrow over the City of London.

Also very much a record shot, this picture poses the silent question 'what will the future look like?' It is only 11 years since the first arrival at Heathrow of a Singapore Airlines A380 marked a new future now curtailed by the announcement of the end of production of the type. It was the same airline which withdrew from service its first A380 (9V-SKA) only ten years after delivery. A later aircraft is seen here with a Thai Airways example at Heathrow's Terminal 2. What will my photographs of ten years time look like?
