Den schönsten Moment erlebte ich aber, als sich in dieser Szene der Dampfzug vom Bahnhof Streitberg Richtung Ebermannstadt aufmachte. Ein Bild für die Galerie! Ich bekomm jetzt noch Gänsehaut, wenn ich an diesen Augenblick denke. Und mit diesen Bildern ging ein wunderschöner Tag bei der Dampfbahn Fränkische Schweiz zu Ende.

Ein großes Dankeschön an die etwa 50 Vereinsmitglieder, die ehrenamtlich für die Dampfbahn aktiv sind.

Der Hemmelsdorfer See in Schleswig-Holstein liegt nördlich von Lübeck in direkter Nähe zur Ostsee im Bereich der Gemeinden Ratekau und Timmendorfer Strand und war früher eine Förde.

Um den See liegen die Ortschaften Hemmelsdorf, Offendorf, Kreuzkamp, Wilmsdorf, Warnsdorf, Häven und Niendorf, wo der Abfluss des Sees, die Aalbek, in die Lübecker Bucht mündet.

Die Schlacht um die Seelower Höhen im April 1945 leitete das Ende des 2. Weltkriegs ein. Eine Woche später war Hitler tot. 2 Wochen später war der Krieg zu Ende.
Der 8. Mai gilt seitdem als Tag der Befreiung (vom Faschismus).
Die Bronze-Plastik im Zentrum der Gedenkstätte stammt von Lew Kerbel.
Sie stellt einen der siegreichen Rotarmisten dar, der sich auf einen zerstörten deutschen Panzer stützt. An der Schlacht waren rd. 1 Mio Sowjetsoldaten beteiligt; 33.000 sind in dieser Schlacht gefallen.
Das Monument zu deren Gedenken wurde im November 1945 errichtet.
Der Soldatenfriedhof mit den Gräbern der dort Gefallenen wurde um das Denkmal herum errichtet und wird bis heute gepflegt.

Some years ago now en route back to Llandudno from Leicester on a Monday morning I took the opportunity, while waiting for the 09.49 train to Bangor, to capture this EWS Class 67 diesel 67022 light engine in bay platform 8 under the impressive roof at the south end of Crewe station.

The rather straight-backed benches on the right don't look so comfortable.

Gleich hinter dem westlichen Stadtviertel sieht man links die Raffinerie www.bayernoil.de und rechts das Heizkraftwerk www.uniper.energy/de/deutschland/kraftwerke-deutschland/irsching . Bei Westwind kommen hier üble Gerüche und Krach an. Vor einigen Jahren gab's auch mal neu kleinere Explosion in der Raffinerie, groß genug für viele geplatzte Fenster, aber glücklicherweise keine Katastrophe.
