A Vintage Photos Theme Park photo for the theme of playing cards and board games.

Two young men pretend to play Parcheesi against themselves as they pose (two times!) for this double exposure photograph.

Take a look at a cropped version of the photo showing a close-up view of the Parcheesi board on the top of the table.

This is an unused real photo postcard with the words "Post Card" and "The address to be written on this side" printed on its undivided back, which suggests that it may date to sometime during the first decade of the twentieth century.

Am 25. September 2017 findet der bundesweite Aktionstag gegen die Glücksspielsucht statt. Mit dem Tag soll auf die Gefahren des Glücksspiels aufmerksam gemacht werden, welches sich leicht zu einer ernsthaften Sucht entwickeln kann. In Deutschland sind ca. 264.000 Menschen im Alter von 16 bis 65 Jahre glücksspielsüchtig. Rund 275.000 Menschen zeigen ein problematisches Glücksspielverhalten - dies entspricht ungefähr 1 % der erwachsenen Bevölkerung. Am Tag gegen die Glücksspielsucht finden bundesweit zahlreiche Aktionen und Veranstaltungen zu dem Thema statt.

Ein Mensch gilt als spielsüchtig, wenn er unfähig ist, dem Impuls zum Glücksspiel zu widerstehen, auch wenn dies gravierende Folgen im persönlichen, familiären oder beruflichen Umfeld nach sich zieht oder diese zumindest drohen. Besonders suchtgefährdend sind laut der Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung Sportwetten im Internet und Glücksspiel-Automaten. Das Spiel an Geldspielautomaten hat ein rund fünffach höheres Risiko für problematisches Glücksspielverhalten als andere Glücksspiele. Ungefähr 50 % der pathologischen Glücksspieler spielten nach eigenen Angaben zu Beginn ihrer Sucht an gewerblichen Spielautomaten. Don't forget to make time for stunts during your Halloween party! This handy dandy Whirl-O spinner makes it easy. Who wouldn't want to "Whistle 'Yankee Doodle' with a saucepan on your noodle" or "Throw ten feet, never fail, three potatoes in a pail"? You'll find out who can "Squirm and wiggle, then laugh and giggle" or who's more likely to "Keep a straight face for a while, let nobody make you smile."

Of course, you'll have to prepare ahead of time. In addition to a saucepan, potatoes, and a pail, you'll need some string, a broom, a blindfold, an apple, some balloons, needle and thread, and a bunch of other stuff.

Check out the full list of stunts below. You may want to practice each one before the party so that you can demonstrate for your guests.

The illustrations and design are from the late 1950s, I believe. The deck you see here is a small-size reissue from the late '60s, when Whitman revisited a half dozen of their older card games and packaged them in a tray as a "Treasure Kit of Midget Cards".

From 1966. The controversy this game supposedly caused at the time of its planned initial release makes amusing reading.

"In 1965, Sears Roebuck told Milton Bradley they would not market the game. In December, Taft called Guyer to say Milton Bradley was discontinuing the product because it was too risque. On May 3rd 1966, Taft, knowing that a P.R. firm had already arranged for Twister to be played on The Tonight Show, went to watch Eva Gabor entice Johnny Carson to play the game. The next day, dozens of people were lined up at the Abercrombie and Fitch store in Manhattan where there were a few early games available. Taft called Guyer to say Milton Bradley had reconsidered."

The rest, as they say, is Twistery.
